Ursodiol- gallstones prevention

I'm thinking of asking to doctor to prescribe this for gallstones prevention, anyone else had this please?

"Ursodeoxycholic acid tablets may occasionally be used to prevent gallstones if it's thought you're at risk of developing them.
For example, ursodeoxycholic acid may be prescribed if you have recently had weight loss surgery, as rapid weight loss can cause gallstones to grow."

Gallstones

The treatment plan for gallbladder conditions will depend on how the symptoms are affecting your daily life.

Do you already have gallstones as I don't think fast weight lost causes them. It's just makes them larger IF you already have them. I wouldn't take a medication I don't need.

Ok- no I don't think I have them already, I had an ultrasound about a year or so ago which came back clear. It's just that I have had a lot of previous abdominal surgery and been told it is important to avoid further surgery as much as possible due to adhesions / need for open surgery.

I might message the pharmacy and / or ask the GPs to see what they say. It's good to know it might not be a problem though. I'm trying not to lose weight too fast, it is going at about 2lbs a week at present.
