Do you still take weekly dose when you are very ill?

I have had a d&v bug since Wednesday night. On and off but it's lasting and I am feeling very ill. Yesterday couldn't get a blood pressure, totally depleated. Today have managed to keep something down - first time since Wednesday lunch time.

Have been on mounjaro for 5 months, usually take it on a Saturday morning. Didn't take yesterday as just felt so ill. Wondering if I give my self a few days to recover or whether I should take? Is it bad to let it get completely out of your system / delay dose?

Have been relatively well on MJ, a few side effects and only a couple of times actually felt unwell after having a few drinks months ago. So day to day I am now in a good routine with it, it doesn't cause me side effects really. I'm just worried it might if my stomach is so in-settled.

I think you can delay 3 days, without too much issue. But any longer and you might need to consider taking a lower dose so it doesn't hit you too hard. It's best to check with your prescriber.

Personally, I would want to feel better first, or perhaps take a smaller dose - but your prescriber is best to advise.

Hope you are better soon.

Thanks @Swissrollover . I have messaged prescriber yesterday but not heard back yet and didn't want it to be too long.
I think I should probably take it tomorrow then as that will be 3 days, and I don't want to mes an up everything I have built up towards so far. As long as I'm not sick overnight etc I will take.

You can skip a dose and then take your next dose as normal. It's only if you get to 14 days without it that prescribers will say you should restart from 2.5.

Swissrollover · 03/11/2024 18:15

There is a difference between restarting at 2.5mg and taking a lower dose after a short break, unless on 5mg.

Lots of people on here have reported regretted taking the same dose after a short break due to illness or holiday. Stepping back a bit by counting clicks for a week or two tends to have more favourable results.

I haven't personally done either, so hopefully the prescriber will respond soon to advise.

Thanks, I'm on quite a high dose - 12.5 by now so definitely don't want to go back to 2.5!
Trying to get in touch with Voy but online chat isn't working for me and my app doesn't see to be playing ball either!

Superdrug says this so I'm thinking may be I'll skip totally. I feel so awful tonight, think I'm going to have to seek help soon as can't continue! So think I'll just decide to skip by this week :)

I personally always go with my prescriber (Voy)'s recommendations - and recently skipped a week as I was going to France for a gourmet weekend (!). I'm on 10mg and came back and injected as soon as I returned - so there was about 11 days between doses. Absolutely fine. I wouldn't worry.

Thanks @VividZebra , I'm also with Voy and heard back from them today. Th is is exactly what they advised.

My illness seems to be the lovely coronavirus, and now on day 5 of terrible d&v with no signs of let up (and a WHOLE stone lighter! ) Interestingly Voy said they had had some reports that people on MJ seem to have worse effects from stomach bugs. So just riding it out but certainly won't take until I am fully recovered.
