Mounjaro 2nd jab, did I mess it up?

Slightly weird experience doing second jab just now. Did it into top of right leg last weekend, so left leg today. Chose to do legs because I thought I'd have more control over the needle, which was definitely the case last week. I barely felt it, to the point where I had to check the pen to make sure the dose had dispensed.

However, this week I felt the needle more, and there was a bit of liquid left on my leg when I withdrew the needle (more than the drop that appears on the end of the needle, I mean). Frustrating as presumably that means I've had a reduced dose! All I can think is perhaps my hand wasn't so steady this time (I'm right-handed).

Has anyone else had this experience?

Did you leave the needle in for 10 seconds, was there a 0 in the pen window? I inject in my tummy and make sure the needle is all the way in, then I push the plunger thing in, wait 10 seconds and then remove needle. There are videos on Youtube. I one I watch says there can be liquid still on the end of the needle.

The pen window had definitely returned to 0 but I hadn't realised the needle had to be left in for 10 seconds, I got mine from Voy and the instructions said 'count to 5 slowly', bit vague 😄 Sounds like perhaps I should have left it in a bit longer...

The paper instructions that come in the box are the same wherever you purchase it from. It says to count to 5, not 10 seconds. I doubt you did anything wrong and you'll have got the full dose.

I'm sure it will be fine. It's unlikely what was on your skin was enough to make a difference to the dose you received.

Ineffable23 · 03/11/2024 08:14

You'll hardly have lost anything. If you think about it, 0.6ml is 1cm x 1cm x 0.6cm. So if what was on your skin was 0.5mm deep, then even if it 0.5cm x 0.5cm wide, it would will only be 2% of the liquid.

Thanks folks, this is all useful stuff as I'm so new to this!

I certainly absorbed enough to have had some nausea since, which also happened with first dose 😐but it'll be a small price to pay if this works.

Many apologies all. I didn't realise I'd put 10 seconds. Of course it's 5 seconds.
