When Did Your Weight Loss on 2.5mg MJ Slow Down

Hi

Just wondering, those who have lost weight on 2.5mg MJ, when did your weight loss slow down and when did you know it was time to move up to 5mg?

I'm on week 3 Day 5 of 2.5mg MJ and I think my weight loss has started to slow down a lot. I haven't changed what I'm eating/drinking or my exercise so wondering if it's just a natural slow down (not that I expect to lose big every week) has anyone else experienced this? And, if so did you move up to 5mg straight away after 2.5mg?

The usual dosage schedule is four weeks of 2.5mg and then move up to 5mg if you have tolerated the 2.5mg with no unmanageable side effects. Are you wondering about staying on 2.5mg and not moving up to 5?

Doggymummar · 24/10/2024 10:48

I didn't lose on 2.5, it's not a therapeutic dose anyway, I'm zipping through to the highest dose quick as I can. Second 5 mg jab today.

olympicsrock · 24/10/2024 10:49

I did 10 weeks on 2.4mg . I moved up once it felt like my appetite suppression was not so much and weight loss slowing down to a lb per week but side effects were worse.
after 6.5 months I have stopped at 5mg but lost 3.5 stone .
I wanted to do the weight loss steadily to avoid loose skin and it seems to have worked ( mid 40s )

I wanted to stay on 2.5mg as long as I could to limit side effects as much as possible. So, yes I wanted to stay on 2.5mg for another month ideally but there's not a lot of point if there's no change. Just wondering what other people's experiences have been coming towards the end of the 2.5mg kiwi pen.

My advice is to buy the 5mg pen if the price is the same + an extra box of pen needles and keep the dose at 2.5mg ( counting 30 clicks) if you are losing weight. Many people do lose weight very successfully on 2.5mg and choose to reduce e side effects and cost.

Congratulations! You've worked hard losing 3.5 stone.
How were the side effects for you moving from 2.5 to 5?
Currently I'm having a decent amount of suppression (apart from about 10-11pm at night when I feel hungry (strangely enough) but I'll know for sure what the weight loss is for this week when I step on the scales on Sunday.

I think there's a large misconception that you lose lbs and lbs really quickly on mounjaro. It's not a miracle drug that melts fat, it's simply enables you to eat in a calorie deficit which means you lose weight. If you look it up on TikTok, Facebook etc there are lots of people posting about mega loses, but I think the majority of us are just regular losers.

I lost 4lb on my first week, 2lb in the second and it's been 1lb a week for 5 weeks now. The same as I'd lose at ww or sw, the difference is my motivation hasn't taken a nose dive like it would on those plans, and I don't feel the need to eat more, drink more or snack.

Don't see it as a negative your loses are failing off, look at it as a long journey

Definitely had a lot more side effects , nausea reflux constipation when I increased the dose to 5mg. I have got used to it and they settled down though .

I had side effects on 5mg - nausea, fatigue - but since moving up to 7.5mg I haven't had them anywhere near as much. I'm now planning to stay on 7.5mg whereas I had done the 4 weeks at 2.5mg and 4 weeks at 5mg.

I definitely agree with you. I have lost in the first 2 weeks which has been a great surprise. I'm working hard and know that my drinking/eating hasn't changed (I log everything on Nutracheck) so just wondered if it was a typical experience on MJ at 2.5mg dose. I plan on sticking with it though for definite.

A mixed response with side effects. This drug appears to be individualistic for sure. Ive got a decent amount of suppression and zero side effects on 2.5mg so I may stay on this for another 4 weeks.

Currently feeling disappointed as I lost 9lb in the first two weeks of 2.5ml dose. Now on week 4 and only lost 1lb over the past two weeks. Like others, my food intake is still very low.

Have 5ml lined up for next month but nervous about the side effects as still feeling pretty nauseous in the first day after injecting.

I'm at the end of the second month on 2.5 I lost 9 lbs the first week, and after that, between 1-2 lbs a week. I'm quite happy with that rate of loss. I don't really like the idea of total appetite suppression, it's enough for me not to be really hungry, and to be able to avoid snacking. I've had some days when I was hungry and thought I would need to go up to 5 mg, then it wears off. At the moment I think month 3 will also be at 2.5

That's how I'm feeling too. I'm not starving or anything, but I do seem to get a bit hungry at around 10-11pm at night (very strange). But apart from that I'm religiously sticking to healthy eating and increased my protein intake as well as water intake. This week seems to be a bit of a strange one as I haven't changed anything and wondered if this was a typical experience. I do have an underactive thyroid, PCOS, as well as being in my mid 40s so maybe its a hormonal thing for me this week.
