How did you decide? Wegovy or Mounjaro?

What made you pick one over the other?
I'm going around in circles?

Mounjaro is newer and has an additional drug action that Wegovy doesn't. It also showed better weight loss in the clinical trials than Wegovy did. It also was reported to have milder side effects and less incidence of very rare but serious side effects. In addition there had been no supply issues with Mounjaro and it wasn't being used as a first line treatment for diabetics, although I think that diabetics are more able to ask for it from the NHS in recent times.

Went through the same thought process as @SilenceInside . Wegovy gets more headlines but Mounjaro has been more successful in trials.

Went round and round in the same circles. Ended up doing an online assessment with Boots who would not prescribe MJ as I have had thyroid surgery in the past. But would prescribe Wegovy, so decision made.

I am aware that other prescribers will allow me to take MJ as I haven’t had thyroid cancer in the past but I would prefer to err on the side of caution and stick with the advice from the Boots doctor. If it wasn’t for the thyroid, I would have gone for MJ for the reasons stated up thread.

Am now 10 days in on Wegovy and pleased so far.

I’m on ozempic/wegovy because I’m in Canada and Mounjaro is less common and more expensive. Even from the online clinics it’s only if you don’t respond to semaglutide.

If you have the choice start with Mounjaro. It's been proven to be more effective (works in 2 ways whereas Wegovy works only in 1) and it's cheaper from what I've seen.

MJ wasn’t available when I started Wegovy but I switched because it’s cheaper. So far I’m not impressed with having put weight on.
