Anyone else had reduced joint pain on MJ?

I've had shocking joint pain in neck, arms, knees and ankles for the last year which I had put down to menopause.

I've been taking MJ for 10 days and my joint pain has massively reduced. I've lost a grand total of one pound so it's definitely nothing to do with reduced weight.

Anyone else?

Oh my god this is a benefit I've only just heard about! I would be so happy if this was the case. I'm 10 days in and not feeling it yet, though. My knees are absolutely awful, and at 50 years old I move like a 70 year old. Is there anything this MJ cannot do? I can't believe how easy it has been to eat sensibly in the last 10 days, and to resist alcohol

ShovelyJo · 24/09/2024 21:54

Sadly no, would love it if it did.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 24/09/2024 21:55

Presumably because you've lost weight?

Snozzlemaid · 24/09/2024 21:58

It is believed the drug helps to reduce inflammation so there is a possibility it's helping you this way.

Iamthemoom · 24/09/2024 22:21

I listened to a podcast the other day about multiple benefits in low dose GLPs including reduced inflammation. The dr on the podcast was micro dosing it to treat gut issues, neurological issues, and more. Really interesting.

She put in her OP that she’s lost 1lb. Not sure that’s enough to reduce pressure on joints.

Lola3034 · 24/09/2024 22:45

Too much sugar causes inflammation. I always have joint pain when I fall off the diet/healthy living wagon.
Since I started Mounjaro my hip pain nearly completely have gone away. Some of it is to do with the weight loss and some most likely to do with the fact that I barely ate anything sweet for nearly 2 months now.

Rokuandice · 24/09/2024 23:00

me too! I felt it within the first week - I feel looser in my movements, if that makes sense. DD said it was placebo - I disagree because I wasn’t expecting this. Can walk quicker and less breathlessness- week 3 now

doodleschnoodle · 24/09/2024 23:05

Yep, MJ reduces inflammation so entirely possible.

What was the podcast called please? Sounds interesting.

Iamthemoom · 25/09/2024 20:51

@Island2513 it was this one and she’s on insta as well. She’s talking about Ozempic specifically but it applies to all GLP-1s I think.

(please note I just found this information interesting in terms of using very low doses for other issues besides weight loss - I’m not suggesting anyone do it without seeing a dr!)

Thank you! I am interested in what they say about the link with gut issues as gut microbiome stuff fascinates me.

I have an auto immune disease and have been on Cindy's for moderate/high levels of ongoing inflammation for ten years. Need a knee repayment and had to have hip surgery last year for an infected joint. I started mj 7 weeks ago at 17st5. Currently 15st 12 and I'm at Butlin's with my grandkids as in typing this. I've definitely been able to walk a lot more and with less over all joint pain and stiffness since I've been on mj . Could be the reduced sugar intake? Could be a placebo. Who knows but I think it's wonderful either way. It's given me the promise of my life back and will hopefully extend the joints I've still got that are usable/healthy.

AutumnComing2 · 25/09/2024 21:52

Yes within 24hrs noticeable joint pain reduction I’m early 50s and HRT used to help but I’m guessing as my oestrogen levels dropped off my joint pain ramped up. Using MJ turned off my sweet cravings and it does release stored oestrogen in fat cells I think. I’m now 2 stone down which should also be helping and eat a fraction of the sugar I used to so less inflammation in my body it’s been an amazing drug for me.

Summerhillsquare · 25/09/2024 22:10

Yes, straight away, so not (just) the weight loss. I'm more flexible too oddly.

magnoliaagain · 26/09/2024 22:42

Can't wait for this. Put on weight recently due to life crises and medicating through food and my joint pain is ridiculous right now. Just need to get back on track and use this to help break some bingeing habits then can hopefully be back in healthy eating mode and keep the pain away. I've succeeded in reducing pain through fasting before so
Hopefully I'll be able to kickstart with this then go back to that

AutumnComing2 · 27/09/2024 05:57

@magnoliaagain sounds like I was but now I’m still fasting 14-16hrs a day, tracking everything I eat keeping under 1200c focusing on increased protein & reduced carbs much lower sugar, exercise daily and I’ve steadily lost 2lbs a week over 3months so far 28lbs down. MJ just makes it possible to stick to it and lose the lbs but you do have to change your eating patterns too but for someone jn her 50s whose tried her entire life to keep losing weight this drug is the missing hormone making it possible. Good luck

nougatcougar · 28/09/2024 00:58

I've been listening to this podcast tonight. I can't believe it, I feel like crying. My knees still hurt but my anxiety has vanished in a way that the stupid SSRI/SNRI meds I was given never touched. My mind has felt so much better and I thought it was because I haven't been eating sugar or drinking much alcohol. She just talked about dopamine seeking which is exactly what I feel has shifted with me

MargoLivebetter · 29/09/2024 07:08

I have two different types of arthritis and my joint pain has improved. I've been on MJ for 6 weeks now.

However, my joint pain always improves when I reduce sugar and crappy carbs, so I can't tell if it's that or the MJ, or possibly both!

I'm relieved either way.
