Took the plunge! First dose today! Should there be liquid...?

Got my Mounjaro today (from Voy). Just injected and was so relieved it wasn't bad/painful at all. I'm so needle-phobic so this was like a miracle. The needle is so tiny.

Anyway, my question is: after injecting, should be there be liquid in the glass screen? Does it mean I didn't inject properly? I followed the detailed visual instruction from my Voy acct app for how to use it - its simple enough - and did it step by step but I can't see anywhere that shows what the pen looks like after injection except for the number going back to 0 (which mine did). So I want to know from others if theirs is like this too. (Attached a photo)

Second question: When doing the second dose, do I twist it to 2 instead of 1 then inject, or twist it to 1 again and inject?

There is liquid in the glass vial. I don't know what you mean by the "glass screen".

Can you see the vertical lines on the glass vial? They're raised so you can also feel them. Your black plunger has moved along to the first line, which means you've done one dose. Next time, you follow the instructions exactly as you did the first time, prime it (follow the instructions on how to do that) then turn the pen out to the 1 position, then inject all the way in until the dial is back at 0.

The paper instructions that came with the injection pen are direct from the manufacturer and is what you should be following.

I'm on Wegovy, but it looks similar to my pen.

You have liquid in that tube (note the air bubble on the left near the top of the pen). The grey bit inside on the right of your photo is what pushes the liquid out of the needle. You turn the end to kind of wind it up, then press the end and it makes the grey bit move along the tube and push out the liquid. So I would assume you've administered it correctly.

Re. the numbers for the doses, you are giving one dose each time so would only twist it to the number 1. But I'm sure someone on Mounjaro can confirm for you.

SilenceInside · 19/09/2024 12:38

Just to add, I've been on Mounjaro for 11 weeks now.

SwiftiesVSLestat · 19/09/2024 12:39

The liquid remaining in the pen are your weekly doses. It will go down each week.

When you take the next dose you twist to 1 exactly like you did this time.

CapybaraFightClub · 19/09/2024 12:43

Mine arrives from Voy today too. 😬

MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 12:44

Thank you all. I've done it correctly then because I did follow the instructions exactly as shown. I just wasn't expecting to see that in the vial (what I called 'screen' - I blanked out on the name while writing) because it wasn't mentioned anywhere, but of course it makes sense now that it's been explained.

I can see it now. I do have anxiety disorder, ocd and I'm autistic so anything unexpected (no matter how seemingly little it is) can send me overthinking and extremely anxious.

Thanks everyone for your kind answers.

Thank you. It seems like it works the same.😊

Thanks. I understand it now.😊

It's totally understandable when it's something new and out of your experience. I was so nervous before doing my first injection my hands were shaking and I had to re-read the instructions about 20 times. Now after doing 11 injections I barely look at the instructions!

Fingers crossed for you. I was so scared but once I saw the needle - and once I injected - it was such a non-issue, I know I wouldn't even bat an eyelid for the next dose.

Hahaha yes I did this too. I kept watching the video on my acct app because it was much easier to see it done step by step...I was following it like a 5 year old so as not to miss anything...

Do you keep it in the fridge? I noticed the little drop of fluid on the outside of the cartridge, if it has been in the fridge it’s probably condensation.

I’m a little surprised that the cartridge is plain. Most medications are identifiable on the cartridge for safety reasons.

SilenceInside · 19/09/2024 12:53

@Angrymum22 the vial is not removable from the injection pen itself, it's built in, and the part of the pen you can't see has the name, dosage and so on as you'd expect for any medication.

MounjaroHereICome · 19/09/2024 12:54

@Angrymum22 Yes it's in the fridge. I cropped the picture so the whole thing isn't showing except the vial. It's labelled properly at the end of the pen, if that's what you mean.

Thanks! I'm off work for anxiety right now so figured now is a good time to focus on my health. I'm sure we'll both do amazing! Good luck. Feel free to message me if you want a starting buddy. 😁

For future reference this is what the pen will look like after each dose.

With photo this time hopefully.

I looked at your pic and thought of the Jaffa Cake advert, Full moon, Half moon, Total eclipse.

Normally that would send me off to the shops looking for Jaffa cakes - but not now. 😀

Snozzlemaid · 20/09/2024 15:31

🤣🤣

Snozzlemaid · 20/09/2024 15:33

I wonder if McVities and Walkers are noticing a drop in sales of biscuits and crisps yet?
They must be feeling it with missing out on selling to me alone with what I used to buy 😂
