Saxenda - does anyone still take it?

I am reading threads about the various injectables, and most people seem to be on Mounjaro now. The only option (so far) where I live seems to be Saxenda. Just wondering if many people are still on it? Or if anyone has started recently. Any advice or feedback would be lovely, or a nod towards where I should look - I did an advanced search but it didn't throw much up. Thanks!

Hi, maybe you live in the same place as me. I was only able to get saxenda or ozempic where I live. (ROI)

Been on saxenda for a few months. lost about 1 stone but now seems to have stalled for the last few weeks.

Other people seem to have done really well on it so its absolutely worth a try (and one stone is one stone).

I am trying to source mounjaro, if I am successful will go on that.

Thsnks @wanttolose
Yes, I am in Dublin.

A stone off is great - and I always add more for what I would have put on during that time... if that makes sense!

Picked up my Saxenda script today so I think I will start tomorrow and get going!

All the threads here seem to be about MJ now but from what I can gather, lots of people had to change when Saxenda stock was hard to find in the UK. Rather than the Saxenda not working.

I have an idea to give myself until the end of this year on it, if it works I will keep going, if not I will have given it a good attempt.

Took my first injection this morning, and it went fine.
Curious to see if I get any side effects - I'll probably be imagining loads of twinges until I get used to things.

How are you getting on @85isalive ?

85isalive · 11/10/2024 09:33

Hi @naturallydelicious I am getting on OK. I had a few rough days when moving up a dose, but overall I am finding that it is easy enough to manage. I am on 1.8 dose now.

I lost 7 lbs in week 1, nothing in week 2. I have decent suppression, and can really take it or leave it when it comes to eating. I need to make a better plan for what I eat, I have been neglecting my fruit and veg and I can feel it!

I started on Saxenda in 2019 (prescribed by an endocrinologist for weight loss) and although it did cut my appetite somewhat, it wasn't that effective. I stopped using it and gained back the few kilos I'd lost. I was then prescribed Ozempic last year by my GP, and it worked well but weight loss was too slow. My GP then recommended Wegovy and it's fantastic. It almost works too well because I forget to eat. I've lost around 15kg in three months. I feel wonderful.

I live in Canada, btw and Mounjaro isn't commonly prescribed.
