How do you go about getting prescribed the likes of Ozempic...?

I know there are sites selling it, but how do you prove who you are / your weight / do they contact your GP? I ask as I am toying with the idea and basically curious. An 'online GP' sounds odd, and surely they could be prescribing it to anyone (fat OR thin) if it's based on a photo!

I'm guessing they get you to sign a disclaimer stating that all the information given is true.

Then it's on you if things go wrong. As long as their arses are covered they probably don't care if things go wrong.

You provide a photo of yourself with your ID on the more reputable sites. The less reputable sites ask for no verification or evidence of weight so it's easier to buy but I'd be more concerned about what you are actually buying.

Prescribers run the risk of disqualification, so God knows who'd risk their livelihoods!

@Notsuchafattynow so how is it verified? I can send pics, and I can send my passport pic as ID, but the body could be someone else's! Sorry if I am asking dumb questions at this point, there is a such a difference in price that it seems odd and also a bit off...

The pictures of your body also have to include your face, which I guess they check against your passport photo.

So unless you are a thin twin with a fat sister, it may be hard to get round that?

Which pharmacy are you looking to use?

I'm not actually looking specifically at pharmacies as yet, I am just looking at options or how you do it, and reading a lot of threads on here! Due to the huge price range I started to wonder.

Re the body photo vs ID, I have read on here about people not inc their face so it's now another level of confusion!

I think when MJ fist came out in the UK some didn't, but further prescribing rules came out about 3 months later which tightened things up

Also, most of the websites allow you to order and pay for MJ up front. Which makes people think they can get round the rules, however each order is then scrutinised and further photos or verification is requested before the drug is prescribed.

There were a few threads that you'll see saying 'X pharmacy has let me order and pay without a photo of my face' but it just making a successful order won't mean you'll actually be prescribed.

Asda get you to take a photo of scales and feet with date written next to them, then photo in full length mirror but the main thing is that you have to click to say this is all true and that you take responsibility for telling the truth. They also send a letter to dr so if imagine that would raise flags if you were known to be underweight/ill etc. no passport needed.

If you find it online MUCH cheaper than other sites it's probably a scam. When there was an ozempic shortage last year I was looking for it and found 'ozempic' for half what it had previously cost (and 1/4 of what pharmacies were charging at that time) of course I googled the site and it was a scam. Wegovy costs between about £180 and £270 a month and mounjaro between about £130 and £200. That's the price. Anything much cheaper is probably fake.

@MargaretElsie I'd suggest you look at Mounjaro as well as Ozempic. Mounjaro is newer than Ozempic and can produce greater weight loss with fewer side effects. Just thought I'd mention it in case you hadn't seen anything about it.

I use MedExpress, I find them good and supportive. I had to put my height, weight etc, upload my passport and a full length photo with my face visible.

I wasn’t telling lies so had no need to worry about manipulating the information. I did take my photo in my underwear so I looked particularly fat, I carry clothes well and look far fatter undressed.

I was approved no questions asked. I also had to agree to my doctor being informed, which I did, and the letter is on my NHS app.

I don't know specifically who my Dr is, but the last one I spoke to was quite disparaging about the likes of Mounjaro (this is actually the one I mentioned by name, but I used Ozempic in the OP as that seems to be more well known) and suggested I join a gym instead.

I don't weigh myself but I suspect I am between 13-14 stone, largely meno gain, and it's not shifting! I try to keep under 1500 cals a day but, as I walk so much (50+ miles a week according to my fitbit!) it's not shifting. I am five foot 4. I am also bloody hungry and get resentful, which doesn't work in terms of sustainability so want to see what can help as a 'head start' as I can't see it dramatically improving via the more traditional ways.

Oushk did not ask my bf for photographs, it was just dispensed. This was last week, first order, first ever pen. No checks.

I use an online pharmacy. You just answer a few questions- nothing too difficult. I think I had to send a picture and I sent a recent pic.
A couple of days later I got a confirmation and they post it to you.

I have to place a new order every month, & update my weight - it's not a subscription.

You could try a pharmacy that offers face to face appointments, or if you have diabetes, other risk factors or a very high BMI you may be able to access it via your GP.

If you go for an online pharmacy for convenience, make sure they check you properly meet the criteria. Although it's less hassle to bypass some of the hurdles, you need to feel confident that your prescriber is safe and has your best interests in mind and not just profit.

I'm 5 3, weighed 13.13 and am now 10.03. It's taken 7 months.

I had to upload height, weight, full body photos and pic of scale plus a medical questionnaire and a declaration that it was all true. I did wonder if people lied...and I would have been edging into lying too if I was actually the weight I had been lying to myself for years. I told myself that I was only 75kg and therefore overweight but not obese (but with other factors which meant 27 BMI was the cutoff) but when I stepped on the scales I was a full 10kg heavier than I thought I was and I was well over BMI 30! No lying required...

For me it was a choice between medication to lose weight, or go on statins and blood pressure pills for the rest of my life and with all the other health risks from obesity on top.
