Had to stop MJ and not ready!!

Has anyone stopped MJ for whatever reason and then re-started?

I had 3 injections & lost 2 stone. Was happy with that as only 1 more stone to lose. All great and felt so good.

But then I needed to have a scan which showed gallstones. Think I had them prior to MJ but didn't have any pain for 2 + years so ignored it all.

Anyway, I've stopped injections as I'm worried about general anaesthetic and aspiration with delayed gastric emptying. Will have stopped MJ for approx 7 weeks before I will have recovers from surgery.

Anyone restarted after this length of time?
My BMI is 26.5 ish now so might not actually get them prescribed again?

Hey! Sorry you’re having a bit of a rough time and had to stop!
Could you not still order from your usual supplier in the meantime, and have them ready for when you’ve recovered? (You will have to start back from 2.5 mg though).

Hi! I was on Wegovy and stopped for a few months as had to have my gallbladder removed. My consultant was happy for me to restart a few weeks after surgery. I had to start from the lowest dose again, so switched to Mounjaro.

If you're worried about suppliers not prescribing you in a few months due to your current weight, do you have enough money to continue ordering the pens, but keeping them unopened in your fridge until you can restart?

beachgirl7 · 11/09/2024 18:47

Thank you, yeah I think I'll just keep ordering and then continue. I'll try and order a 2.5 and start again after the op.

I've managed to stop the constant snacking without it, but the cravings are back!

Oh that's really tough. Have you had an ultrasound scan to confirm gallstones?
I thinks its location annoyingly as our local hospital has shorter waiting lists for this particular op.
Might be worth checking other hospital options if you can? Hope you get it sorted.

@soupfiend So sorry. The state if the NHS is dire at the moment. I was in so much pain and constantly throwing up and was put on the urgent referral list for surgery. 3 years waiting list here!!! I luckily have healthcare through work and got it done within 2 weeks. I am grateful as wouldn't have been able to wait. How often do you have flare ups?

Well I wouldnt be considered a priority, to be fair I dont have a lot of massive flare ups, they're mostly just grumbles although I think I had a massive one this week, vomiting and diarrhea.
