My pen has just arrived, suddenly panicking.

So it's just been delivered, I have unpacked and put in the fridge! But I'm now panicking about actually doing it. Do I do it now; or do I wait until next weekend and do it Friday night to give me a couple of days before work. Are the side effects instant or more likely to come after a few days?!

Talk me through your first week, how you felt, the side effects.

Oh, I've gone with Mounjaro by the way, forgot the important part!

When are you back at work ? I always do my jab at the start of my two days off as I get really tired the second day. Have you got all the stuff you need ? High protein foods, electrolytes, fruit n veg, low fat snacks ?

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 07/09/2024 13:04

This is all in your head.

Stop panicking. You want to do this. Yo lose weight. Now you need your get on with it.

Try doing it before you go to bed. That way it can start working whilst you are asleep.

You might get side affects. You might not. I really didn't get much.

I took it on a Saturday morning. Felt a bit bumpy during the day.

Sunday felt a bit tired and started to notice appetite suppression.

Felt like that till Thursday and then felt appetite returning and had to be careful about not eating too much.

Friday felt really hungry.

Saturday next hag and repeat.

Felt a bit bumpy during the day.

Bumpy should be burpy

missperseverance · 07/09/2024 13:14

I always feel the worst on the day after the jab, then it gradually gets better.

I never really got any side effects, so I wouldn’t fret. But as others have mentioned, make sure you have a couple of good quality protein shakes in case you can’t face any actual food, and maybe have some imodium at hand

I don't really get any side effects. Never have had anything that's been very debilitating. A few tummy aches a few bouts constipation but that's about it. I do mine on a Monday as I like to start week strong and then have a few more Cals at the weekend when dh is home. I tend to stick to 800-1200 Cals Monday - Thursday and then 1200-1800 Friday to Sunday ish.

I've lost approx 16lb and dropped from a 16 to a tightish 12 Want to get to a loose 12. Only about 3/4 lb to shift but it's going really slow now.

P0llyP0cket · 07/09/2024 14:30

I had zero side effects. Go for it.

@randomrainbows I was like you earlier this week. I was very anxious about side effects, and worried about a weekly injection. I was thinking that if it was an oral tablet then I could stop after day one if I felt unwell, whereas having an injection is commitment, no matter how bad I feel!

But I've been fine. In fact I probably felt more sick and shaky before doing the injection than I have any time since.

Reading from other threads I stocked up on OTC remedies for any possible side effects - travel sickness tablets, immodium, senna pods, antacids. I've only need the antacids for reflux during the first 2 nights and fingers crossed that seems to have gone away now.

It does feel like a big first step, but I'm glad I did it. Good luck.

olympicsrock · 07/09/2024 14:48

you will be fine. Good ide to start at the weekend . You will feel side effects tomorrow perhaps a bit chilly and tired and maybe a little nauseated or reflux. Generally ok.
I take my injections after the weekend S it means that the dose is lowest for my weekend when I might want to enjoy a special meal or have a drink .

be prepared to have no appetite !

randomrainbows · 08/09/2024 10:17

I didn't know it started to wear off, that's helpful and helped me to decide that I'm going to do it on Thursday as I actually eat well during the week but then weekends my diet is horrendous so I think this is the key to weight loss for me!
I am nervous but I've read so many positive stories and it's here now so might as well give it a go!
I did lose a lot of weight already earlier this year but that was down to horrific gallbladder issues which meant I physically couldn't eat. I've put another a stone on so I've not got that much to lose really!

@randomrainbows I assume you know MJ is linked to an increased risk of gallbladders issues, especially if you have had issues before?

Yes, my gallbladder was removed, so hopefully be ok! I did discuss it with my doctor and they said I'm ok to take it.

I inject on a Saturday. My main side effect is a bit of constipation, I still go every day but it can be....tmi....difficult. First two weeks I felt very tired the day after, and a bit wobbly/cold at times due to lack of food and had to force myself to eat.

I have also had 3-4 days where I have had to get to loo very urgently all day but the days they come are variable so I think they are more related to something I have eaten, but I haven't worked out what yet. These were not in the first 2 weeks.

Friday is probably good day to start incase you do have side effects when starting.
