Start Mounjaro tomorrow - any tips? I'm a bit nervous.

I lost 30KG - never had any side effects other than the hole in my wallet :)

BrokeAnotherGlass · 28/08/2024 18:09

Thanks, @TorghunKhan, that's very good news!

Thanks, @TorghunKhan, that's very good news!

@TorghunKhan, how quickly did the weight start to come off? I've read a lot of threads already but it would be good to hear more about your experience. Thanks.

Well I am a guy so don’t put too much stick in this - but I lost about 500g a week over about 15 months. I was obese, now my BMI is 22.5

my GF had really bad heartburn, so might be worth sticking up on zantac or similar suppressants

hinestly a wonder drug. I tried everything else. Just got fatter! This worked and I feel much better.

I'm 6 weeks in and it's working for me. I've lost 1stone 8lbs and I've lost every week. For me, eating stopped becoming a pleasure and I couldn't eat half of what I used to. It took a couple of hours after the injection before I noted an appetite decrease. No side effects for me other than occasional headaches.

Stock up on nutrient dense food, and get rid of cheap calories. Mint teabags for queasiness.

Try not to focus on quick weight loss. The first 4 weeks of 2.5mg doses are not meant to produce weight loss, it's about your body getting used to the drug and the amount building up in your system. Some people do respond to it straight away but plenty don't, or only a little. So you have to look at it as a long term, several months, process.

It's probably useful to think about your diet when on Mounjaro. I tend to minimise carbs and up protein and veg levels. If you don't feel like eating much then make whatever you can manage to eat nutrient dense.

Thanks, everyone. I’m hoping it’ll help the food noise!

It was a slow and stealthy creep for me 😁 I actually didn't expect much (we've all been there!). I took mine in the evening and woke up with a nasty taste in my mouth and a raging thirst (still with me 10 weeks in)

Over the next couple days, I noticed I felt rather bunged up and wasn't seeking out food. On about day 4, I realised I didn't feel nauseous from hunger when I woke up (which has been my default mode since I was about 10!) and noticed that I just really wasn't hungry 🤷‍♀️

I do have to admit that I wake up every morning thinking it might all have been a dream and expecting to feel starving and it takes a few minutes to realise that it's just not there any more.

I have said before that even if I never lose another pound, I want to keep taking this for the peace and sense of being in control of my mind and body it has brought me.

Thanks all. I took my first dose yesterday and have definitely eaten less today but I'm not noticing a huge difference in how i feel so far.

I'm interested in how others felt when they first started?

Gradual, especially first month when you’re on a low dose
