Travel bag/ wallet for mounjaro

What does everyone use for their Mounjaro when on holiday? Currently looking at the Frio range that you soak before hand.

Going to Crete for 10 days so 2 doses needed whilst away and we have a fridge. It's just the travel with expectations on flight delays etc.

I used the freezer pack it was delivered with, put it in a zip-loc and wrapped it all in my PJs in my hand luggage. Went through security four times with no issues.

Fedupandstressed · 24/08/2024 16:41

I collect mine from the local chemist, so no freezer pack.

I have a diabetic dog, understand not quite the question, but we have a fridge lock bag from Amazon that lasts 24 hours for his insulin.

I just got an “insulin pen bag” off amazon. Came with ice packs you freeze beforehand and is insulated

Fedupandstressed · 24/08/2024 20:48

I'm thinking more of the return journey as we only have a mini bar type fridge so no freezer.

I am in Turkey at the moment and flew with it in an insulation cool bag as it was a new pen so has to be kept cold. Won't be so stressed on the way home as it will have been used.
Once used, it can be kept at room temp so ice packed in the fridge should be adequate unless you are going to be somewhere in excess of 30 degrees for any length of time

Choux · 25/08/2024 13:53

It was in my handbag. I stuck it in the clear plastic bag with my liquids for security and then put it in the fridge when I got there. Same for return. I used it in 30 days from opening and it didn't go above 30 degrees.

I'm currently in Crete, and did use the Frio single pen wallet. It was great, doesn't flag at the airport, kept it cool, but not frozen. And now I keep it (the wallet) topped up / in the fridge so I can bring it out in the day and keep lipsyl / the back of my neck cool during the day. 😀

@BiliousOhGod live the multi-use Frio! 😁😂 I bought one and then noticed it only kept this at room temp not fridge temp and with an unused pen, I didn't think it would be cool enough. Wish I'd brought it anyway now to use as you've suggested!!

Have any of you packed in your hold cases with any problem?

You shouldn’t put it in your hold luggage as that is not temperature controlled and it might freeze. Just take the pen in your hand luggage. You can pack the needles in your hold bag if you want.

Thank you. I did google, then get in touch with my provider and they advised the same, so good advice and appreciated.

PerditionCatchMySoul · 14/05/2025 09:05

Can you take the needles in your hand luggage? Also, do you have to put the pen in a special clear “liquids” bag? We’re going on a big holiday with all extended family, none of who knows I’m on MJ, and don’t want to be embarrassed in the airport…

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 14/05/2025 15:40

@PerditionCatchMySoul yes, needles can go in your hand luggage. No, you do not have to put pens in the plastic bag (although most UK airports have now got rid of the plastic bags anyway!).

untilido · 15/05/2025 07:06

I don’t bother keeping it cold when I travel. It’s fine out of the fridge

Letshavetea1 · 15/05/2025 07:12

I use a Frio wallet - good if you travel to countries where it’s going to be hot. I then pop it in the fridge when I arrive if there is one. If not I just keep using the Frio. You have to just use cold water to refresh the gel cells every couple of days. Have travelled twice long haul with this method - no problems.
