It's Day 1of using Mounjaro for me today, I am about 14 hours in from first injection and not really knowing what to expect! (I know that 2.5mg is only the starter dose).

I feel hungry but not desperate to eat, it's not distracting me, it's just...there.

I am starting at a 'lower weight' of around 11.5 stone but my BMI is nearly 32 because I am a shortarse!

Not expecting a miracle, I know I need to do the heavy lifting myself but hoping this will make it easier for me to diet as I am a food obsessive, it's in my every thought. I could mindlessly eat all day. I also need to reduce alcohol intake.

Fingers crossed this helps me find the willpower to stop shovelling food into my mouth!

First injection for me today too. Half terrified and half excited!

SnacklessWonder · 12/08/2024 09:47

That was exactly my feelings @Lissaann!

Congratulations and welcome to the MJ journey both of you!

My experience was that I didn't really notice much to start with other than thirst and the metallic taste that has stayed with me ever since! Appetite suppression and lack of food noise sort of crept up on me over the next couple of days and cravings and my morning hunger nausea just sort of slipped away! Good luck!

Thanks, that's reassuring. I'm home alone with two kids this week so really hoping side effects are minimal!

@IReallyNeedThisToWork I'm glad you've mentioned thirst. I was so thirsty this morning, downed a pint of squash! And had the metallic mouth this morning too. I am hungry, but normally, I can't block it out and would have eaten by now, but I feel okay.

@Lissaann Good luck, not everyone gets side effects from what I have read.

Starting tonight so excited to see how it affects me! Do you have any nasty side effects at all?

SnacklessWonder · 12/08/2024 11:06

@NeedSomeAnswersPlease None so far but I think it's still a bit early!

It's a bit of a weird feeling, feeling hungry but not really being arsed about food. Having a protein shake now, sipping it while I work!

Was doing okay this morning, but now I am ravenous! Sticking to my calories though, fingers crossed the suppression kicks in.

@SnacklessWonder if you are hungry, eat something 😁 Suppression is meant to take the edge off rather than stop hunger completely (I am hungry now and about to make dinner 👍)

SnacklessWonder · 12/08/2024 18:28

I have @IReallyNeedThisToWork but I was hoping to not have to snack!

Ah, give it time. It will come 😁 Hit me properly first week on 5mg and it is so liberating!

SnacklessWonder · 12/08/2024 18:38

I'm still on a calorie deficit at 1200 calories, and I did a fair amount of exercise today too, nailed my 10,000 steps and drank 2 litres of water so I feel I am on the right track!

Done my injection!

Didn't hurt going in but I can feel a sting now, it feels like your normal post vaccine ache
