Mounjaro exhaustion - help!

CrawlingThroughTheDay · 01/08/2024 15:05

I am coming to the end of my second month of mounjaro, and I've opted to stay on 5mg because it's working - I've lost 10lbs in the two months I've been on it, which is fantastic.

However . . . I am cripplingly tired. I'm eating plenty of protein, I'm taking the right supplements (magnesium etc.), I'm drinking lots of fluids with electolytes, and I'm getting lots of sleep.

And yet I'm still crawling through the days. What do I do? Drink more coffee?! It's the only thing I can think of doing to cope with work and kids etc.

Has anyone else experienced this tiredness and managed to get their energy levels back up?

I have this, sadly haven't found anything helps. It tends to be worse on day 3, so I've moved my injection day to Thursday, so I'm sleepy mostly on Sundays.

It feels awful though I am falling asleep at 6pm most days!

Me too, @No33 - as soon as we've got the kids in bed, I pretty much go to bed myself! I really need to find a solution to this because I feel like I'm living a half-life Sad

Not found any cure for this I’m afraid. I’ve moved my jab to Friday morning so Saturday is my worst day. At least then it’s not affecting work. I’ve also stayed at 5mg because I didn’t dare go higher.

My main side effect has been fatigue. One thing suggested on another thread was to eat more carbs which I have done in the last month and for me it has helped. A lot of people cut right down or go keto, but carbs are a really good source of easily released energy. I include 1 small portion [eg small slice of wholemeal bread or a couple of new potatoes or small portion of brown rice] of carbs in 2 out of 3 meals each day.

@LoveSandbanks I think I'll need to shift my injection day too; I'm currently Tuesday. Although I need energy at the weekend too, I have two small but hyper children to wrangle!

Thank you @No33 I'll try to eat more carbs to see if that helps. Although one of the reasons I'm losing weight on a lower dose is probably because I'm too tired to make myself anything to eat!

On day 3 I went to bed at 8.30 Grin

FarriersGirl · 01/08/2024 17:54

Eating too little would also make you very fatigued.

CrawlingThroughTheDay · 01/08/2024 19:56

That's late for me, @LaurieFairyCake

Forcing myself to eat, @FarriersGirl - I was thinking that of course you're going to be fatigued if you're not getting enough calories, but I'm pretty sure I am. It's a struggle though.

I didn't go up to 5mg but did 3.75mg instead... I am quite tiered on day 2 and 3 so have stayed on 3.75 and will not go up to 5 until I need to.
Try reducing your dose.

Week 18 here. Lost 38 pounds so far. Still only on 3.75mg but feeling exhausted most days particularly day 2 after jab. Like you op I'm doing all the right things with protein fluid electrolytes etc but some days I feel as weak as a kitten.
