Would you start Mounjaro right before a holiday?

I would. You could be half a stone lighter by the time you go. 😁

Possible reasons not to:

1. You may suffer some side effects which could have you feeling crap on holiday
2. You may not want to eat and drink as you would normally on holiday

I definitely would though as that half a stone I would put on would be yet more weight to lose on my return. Have a good think about it 🙂

I am on week 8 and no I wouldn't start 2 weeks before my holiday assuming that this is something you have been looking forward to and want to enjoy.

Whilst I haven't had bad side effects yet, I haven't felt great and it has taken some time to get used to.

I am away at the end of the summer and will keep the injections going as that will be around 14 weeks and I am now used to the changes, although this week I experienced some new side effects and I still can't drink alcohol.

Thanks you've both outlined why I am concerned about starting so soon before I go.

I think another year of feeling huge on the beach will definitely push me towards starting when I return!

@Onthegrid can you not drink because it makes you feel unwell or is that recommended. It's one of the things putting me off. I love my Friday night two glasses of wine!

I would wait. I'm on Ozempic 2 years. I'm on holidays now for 7 weeks and I injected last Friday. My DD14 asked me could I not take my injections when I'm on holiday because in tired and no fun. I can see her point.

I'm on Mounjaro and haven't had side effects other than fatigue - and, obviously, zero appetite. You don't know how you'll react til you try it - some people don't respond to the 2.5mg dose at all, some people get D&V! So I wouldn't take it for the first time on holiday, but if you have two weeks then you could take a dose and see how it affects you. If it's hard on your system, skip a week's dose while you're away and then resume when you get back.

I started my first mounjaro pen recently and am going on holiday next week. I figured I can start the titration without delay and then move up to the next dose as soon as I am back.

Is it bad to start then stop though?

No - I would enjoy your holiday then start. You might feel unwell the first week or so and it can be quite difficult eating and drinking out as you may have an aversion to food/ no appetite.
