Micro dosing of Wegovy.

I keep reading/ hearing people mentioning micro dosing of Wegovy/GLP 1s. Is this a thing, is it effective, why is it done?

Does anyone know anything about it or where I can find more information, please?

Thank you.

I haven't seen it in any clinical information but have seen it referred to by clinicians in the US on social media where some are using it for those people who cannot tolerate side effects.

Things work very differently in the UK as the NHS and prescribers here work according to NICE guidance and, as far as I can see, this is not something that is recommended or has any real clinical evidence of efficiency.

Thanks Queen. I haven't come across any evidence either but often clinicians prescribe off licence and I wondered if that was happening.

Hearing a lot about this. Wegovy was great on the lowest dose (apart from palpitations) but when i moved up I felt terrible and it stopped working. V interested in microdosing which I know you can do using the clicks but would love to know the best dose. How low are these US clinicians recommending? I've seen a couple of clinicians discussing how effective the micro dose is but none are saying what it is. Katherine Ryan said on her show friends are using it at way lower than the lowest dose. I can't seem to find any info on the actual dose to take. Please do report back if you find more info!

I just listened to this podcast which talks a lot about the microdosing and other benefits to GLP-1s - fascinating stuff podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-diary-of-a-ceo-with-steven-bartlett/id1291423644?i=1000661109842

The only things I have read about microdosing appears to stem from one doctors experimentation with the drugs. But it is experimental and it appears there is limited evidence or any clinical trials to back up the approach.

I am always a bit cynical of Drs who are so active on social media.

Feels like one to proceed with caution, and it could also be very expensive with that way the medications are packaged in the UK.

Checking back in on this thread to see if anyone has tried or learned something new.. I have about 25lb/10kg to lose following 2 back to back pregnancies. I cannot shift the weight.. so I am considering trying Mounjaro.

I have a lot of friends that have been on it and I have found that they have lost weight so fast.. I am in no rush what so ever and the speed of this loss scares me. I would be very happy with a pound or 2ax per week.. if possible. I would love to listen to my body and build better habits while I lose.. I feel the speed of the way my friends have lost weight won’t work for me.. I am also extremely conscious of hair loss.. which is why I was hoping for very slow and steady.

Has anyone worked with a provider that micro dosed from the beginning. I appreciate that the regulated and tested dose is 2.5 .. but I am just looking for some advice on how I could make this work best for me.. thanks so much 🙏🏻

Essentially we are all individuals and the experiments can only be done by ourselves on ourselves. Some people will lose weight very quickly using the standard dosing and some will need to go up through the doses to get even a slow weight loss. Some people will have bad side effects from the first dose and might try cutting down and others won’t ever have side effects or will develop them on higher doses or just randomly later on. For a lot of people the first dose doesn’t have much effect on anything. The only thing is to give it a go and see what happens for you. Then adjust the dose as you think works best. You can stick with 0.25 pens if they are working for you. The providers won’t approve of counting clicks though and will only sell you pens if you order every 3-6 weeks.

I have only just started mounjaro but from what I see most people do lose around 2lbs per week unless they have a lot of weight to lose. As you don't have much to lose I doubt you would lose it super fast. You can also make sure to eat a decent amount of kcal so you don't lose fast and lots of protein and take a collagen supplement so you don't lose muscle mass and hair.
