Wegovans moving to Mounjaro!

Hi!

This new board has inspired me to see if I can start a supportive community for those of us moving/moved from Wevovy onto Mounjaro!

I've been on Wegovy/Ozempic since March 23, have lost 25kg, which has been life changing. Currently on 2.4mg, but haven't had any weight loss for a couple of months, so I've just ordered my first Mounjaro pen and will start it next week.

Please come join me! Any advice from anyone further down the line much appreciated! Anyone thinking of making the jump, come say hi!

I reckon I've got 10kgs left to lose, which feels manageable, just really hope I get on with Mounjaro as well as I have done the other jabs.

(Never tried to start a thread like this before, really hope it's not just crickets Grin)

I’ll join! I was on ozempic last year and lost 2.5 stone in total. Went fine to come off it but lately I’ve really been struggling, especially with the constant food noise and cravings. Partly due to having poor mental health at the moment. I’m working on it and working on creating healthier habits but have just ordered Mounjaro. Haven’t been approved yet but hopefully I will as I’m struggling to shift the weight on my own.
I have a lot of pcso symptoms so expect I have it which of course makes weight loss harder.

MassiveSaladDodger · 12/06/2024 18:52

I did 3 months on Wegovy early this year, did not suit me at all - got all the side effects and none of the appetite suppression or weight loss.

I moved to mounjaro in May, I’m on week 6. Not much appetite surpression or weight loss yet but no side effects so am happy to keep going till I’m on the higher doses. I’m up to 5mg but it’s typical/normal not to see results till 7.5 or higher. A lot of people posting here do lose on the smaller doses, I was getting disheartened but it is actually how mounjaro is meant to work, the lower doses are just to get your body acclimatised.

So if you’re making the switch because you’ve stalled on Wegovy it’s worth bearing in mind it can take a couple of months to start seeing results on mounjaro. That’s of course assuming they start you off on the lowest dose of 2.5mg, I changed providers so they started me from scratch, if you stay with the same prescriber they may advise differently?

CordialDempy Wow, you have lost 25kg (4 stone) in only 11 weeks on Mounjaro? Is that a typo or have you really lost that amount of weight in such a short space of time?? But then you say you haven't lost any weight for a couple of months.... I'm confused. I'm thinking of starting on Mounjaro so would love it to be this effective!!

Ha that would really be quite something! I started wegovy March 2023, not 23rd March 😂
So was on it 15 months for 25kg. I still think it's loads but it's quite a sensible timeframe!!!

Thanks @MassiveSaladDodger that's a good reminder re starting from the low mounjaro doses. It's frustrating isn't it, just being ready to get going and it taking so long to get to a clinical dose. Patience is a virtue?! But when it's costing all this money as well, it tough to take.

I start on Monday, will be trying my hardest to do intermittent fasting and low carb until the mounjaro kicks in to give me some help

Hi @Rapunzel91 thank you for joining and stopping me being billy no mates!! Did you hear back re mounjaro approval yet?

Thanks cordialzempy for clarifying that!’ Slightly disappointed to hear you didn’t lose 4 stone in 11 weeks but guessed it must be too good to be true!!

DrJump · 15/06/2024 01:31

Saw my GP yesterday I've been about the same weight on ozempic for 6 months. We have some supply issues so GP has suggested monjaro.
I've have 3 doses of ozempic to go so will use them up before starting.

I have 10 kilos to goal weight. All up I've lost 55kgs including surgery and Oz and vlcd and some other meds

I've also decided I really need to use my fitness pal properly. As when I do it helps so much.

Have you been told you need to be clear of Wegovy for 5 weeks before starting on Mounjaro?

PrimalLass · 22/01/2025 13:10

Me. I faffed about with wegovy last year, lost a stone quite slowly, then was really sick the night before an event. That freaked me out and I stopped the wegovy and never got back into it.

I've taken MJ for 5 weeks now and am waiting for the next dose up.

Higglepigglewiggle · 29/01/2025 12:24

Hi!
I was on Wegovy for just over a year but due to cost and not amazing losses in the end I moved to mounjaro. Am about to move up to 5mg on Friday. Really hoping the suppression starts to kick in soon. Not sure if it’s due to already being used to a GLP1, I’d love to be one of those people who get strong suppression on 2.5mg. Alas it’s not to be!
I’ve lost about 27kg so far and still a lot to go so I’m hoping this will help.

2025ohdear · 02/02/2025 23:14

Two Quedtions:

  1. So is MJ cheaper? Wegovy is about £250 for 4weeks at the highest level. Is MJ cheaper than that at the higher level?
  1. Can you switch from W highest level to MJ highest level or do you have to build it up from scratch again?
cordialzempy · 03/02/2025 13:46

@2025ohdear I think Mounjaro is a bit cheaper, it's been a while since I've bought Wegovy, but no, you can't start at the highest level, you do need to build up from scratch. I had about 2 months where I either wasn't on WLI (while transitioning) or on the lowest MJ dose so I was back to normal feelings of hunger etc and I didn't like it one bit!!

This is exactly what I did and why, and at about the same amount of weight loss. I'm definitely losing again now I'm on MJ, at about 1kg a month, so it's slow, but I'm not planning on stopping any time soon, I'm in it for the long haul. Having said that, I'm now on the highest dose of MJ, so nowhere to go from here when it stops having much effect!!

My weight loss stalled on Wegovy so I transferred to Mounjaro. Weight loss has really got/going again. I had to leave four clear weeks between stopping W and starting M. Another bonus is that the shocking constipation I had on Wegovy isn’t a problem with Mounjaro.

2025ohdear · 03/02/2025 16:07

What about tiredness. I've been on wegovy a year and lost 2 stone but have been tired the whole time. No energy. Not just from reduced calories but real exhaustion. Any better on MJ?

Higglepigglewiggle · 03/02/2025 18:50

That’s great to hear. I’ve had a busy celebratory weekend so not sure if the 5mg has made any more difference than the 2.5mg but I really need some focus this week so will see how I get on this month. Glad MJ is working for you. 1kg seems a fairly realistic expectation for me. Keep on keeping on and all that!
