What to wear to DS wedding.

Just that really. Mid 50s, 5'6, overweight. DS wedding. Bridal colours - teal. Don't want to clash. Don't want to be "centre of attention" but tend to dress "young" rather than "dowdy". Most people think I'm early 40s. Intend to lose weight (need to for other reasons). Spring wedding. Happy in maxi dresses, short dresses and jumpsuits. NOT skirts. Mid height heels are fine.
Ideas please.

I’m your size if not slightly bigger, and I wore this to a recent, super-formal event. It looks casual in the photo but not in real life, and it is so flattering that I even like the photos of myself in it. (Paired with fascinator and classy goldfsh sandals)

I think this is absolutely stunning! The perfect dress for a wedding for me. OP says the neckline's not right for her, but if I was MOG this is what I'd order to try. I do think a block colour is classy & looks great in photos.

Honestly if you are losing weight I would wait until February to buy an outfit. Soft pinks/corals would look lovely with teal if those colours suit you. Or navy.

Maybe to get organised for shopping you could get your colours done if you haven't done so previousiy, so when you know what size you will be you are ready to hit the shops.

Also to be organised you could look up some make up tutorials if you are going to do your own makeup. It could be a good time to upgrade yours if needed or buy some special new bits like a lovely lipstick or blusher.

And if you want to get your hair and/or nails done you could book appointments for that.

Current plan is to wait until January and book an appointment with a personal shopper. But would just like to have “some” ideas before I do.

I think you need to be reed thin for that to hang properly. It's a very complicated drape and I think could be prone to looking like it got caught in the blender if you have any curves.

How about Wolf & Badger? The paisley jacket would look great over a wide legged plain jumpsuit if you’re not brave enough for the full trouser suit

I did wear a lovely dress, block colour, to DNiece's wedding last year, as did my sister (MOB) & my other sister. I personally think it looks really good in photos.

Size 12 and relatively straight up and down could probably work? You'd need to try it. But the OP is averaging a size 18, I think, and I feel as though something designed to flatter curves would work better than something that has very much a "downward momentum" in terms of the drape.

ETA the green Monsoon above, which, like OP, I really like, might be quite lovely on OP. It just depends how the bust line sits over that high waisted detail.

I've seen some nice dresses in Rebecca Vallance's recent collections, OP.

I like this one, but other dresses in her collections may be more to your personal taste.

Harrod's stock her range, so that may be a good place to start in your search, perhaps with a Personal Shopper.

It makes sense to look in the New Year, as the new season's stock will be filtering in then, with colours more suited to when the wedding is.

Monsoon do a great collection

I have this dress saved to my MOG Pinterest board. Not in terracotta though as I look terrible in warm colours. Lovely to see some positive comments about it as a lot of dresses from the specialist MOB/MOG/occasion brands get a lot of stick (quite rightly in many cases!).

You're probably right about the curves issue. It's not my colour either, but like the concept.

Monsoon is a shout. I've not bought in years, but did have a green dress with beautiful embroidery many years ago for a wedding & it got lots of compliments (and 2 friends subsequently borrowed it).
