What should I wear to my daughter’s Las Vegas elopement?

My daughter, middle child, is eloping and has asked me along. To Las Vegas and the Little White Wedding Chapel. The grooms mum cant go so just me and my husband...her step dad (dad deceased) so I'm very honoured. Probs the only one of my 3 to get married looking ahead. She's wearing the attached. It's her in the dress and accessories just AI background. In the UK the mother of the bride would normally wear a pretty dress/jumpsuit and a fascinator of sorts. What would you suggest for LV for me that might compliment her aesthetic? It will be in May. I will be 54. A size 12-14. Mousey blond highlighted collar bone length hair. I prefer dresses to trousers. I have a tattooed left arm and I would like a covered back. I have some ideas I'm just not sure so i am open to what others might have as ideas! Thank you!

Lovely wedding outfit, got a bit of a 60's vibe to it.
I'd go with that theme, Google 60's style MOB outfits, in fact I'm off to look for you, I'm so excited for you

A suit, cami underneath so you can remove the jacket

Yes I was wondering about a jacket and dress.
I was also looking at that shared 50s style too
Great minds and all that!
I have also googled 50s and 60s till my eyes explode Donewhaticando

I was going to suggest a jumpsuit but my brain immediately jumped to Elvis so maybe not 😂

I would maybe go with her 50s vibe

All dresses of the length and style i would go for. Definitely food for thought!
She is certainly her mother's daughter. If i was her age with the same idea of where to get married she's wearing exactly what I would!

We got married in Vegas - don't underestimate how hot it is! Tweeds and heavy fabrics will make you melt. Also it is usually a very quick ceremony so you may also want to dress for whatever you are doing afterwards (dinner/ show etc) - although to be fair I changed into another dress. Congratulations to your daughter and have a wonderful time.

Ah how wonderful! Yes my daughter had the same.but sleeveless picked out at first for exactly the temperature issue but then went for the short sleeves overall. So those are very valid points! Thank you

Yank here, I was just coming on to say this about the heat. A nice summer dress is fine. I'd skip the jacket unless it's a really lightweight linen one.

How do we feel about this with a removable cape? Im swaying towards a pencil skirt style i think. Correct style but wrong dress? Hat? Colour accessories?

Me neither. Never worn one before tbh lol. But i think a pencil skirt is kind of like the more mature clothing for the era she's trying to capture in a 50s/60s thing? Or a tea dress type thing but I'm too top heavy for one of them. Just don't suit them

I personally would go for a tea dress Vegas will (as pp said ).be roasting a tighter dress might be restricting and uncomfortable.

I had to look up elopement. It always used to mean running away from your parents to marry.

Yeah, it's not eloping if you take your mum along! Grin More a small wedding abroad.

My first consideration in vegas would be dressing for the heat. It’s hotter than satan’s arm pit, even at night. You don’t want to be a sweaty puddle, so I’d definitely steer clear of jackets if there’s a chance you’re going to have to spend more than 30 seconds away from air con.

HundredMilesAnHour · Yesterday 20:46

It was quite a while ago but I went to a friend’s wedding at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Vegas. Be prepared for being in and out very quickly. Our bums had barely touched the seats before we were outside again. And there was a queue of brides to be next in the chapel. 😳

It’s hot but you won’t be outside for long and everywhere has aircon inside. So wear what you want! I wore a sleeveless blingy red dress (a cocktail dress basically).

I have no idea what to suggest I’m afraid but just wanted to say your DD looks incredible! 🤩 Love her whole outfit!
Hope you all have the best time 💒

The dress is definitely 60s in style, not 50s. Do you want sleeves as well as a covered back, OP? Do they need to be long if you want to cover your tattoo, or is shorter ok?

Personally, as the only two women are you & your daughter, I think a bright/strong colour like the pink dress would look a bit too dominant when you're standing alongside her? (It would be different if there were bridesmaids, MoG & lots of other female guests, as there'd be lots of varied colours & styles.)

I would go with a pastel - baby pink/blue/yellow, mauve, mint green. Do you like/suit those colours? They're very 60s too. Late 50s/early 60s dresses started to move away from full skirts towards a pencil skirt bottom half (they're often called "wiggle" dresses).

You could go for something original like this? It's a UK 14-16, but you could get it tailored to fit you perfectly. Not sure what height you are, but if you need to get it taken up then you could use the excess fabric to have a little hat made to match, maybe with a small veil?

Youre right. Shes running away from everyone except me, her brother and sister. She felt she couldn't do it without telling us and having at least 1 of us there with her...
