Bridesmaid dress advice

Hi all,

Currently shopping for a dress for my bridesmaid & I'm really struggling to find anything in the mid point price wise- lots of online places like stacees that seem pretty cheap & I have no idea of quality, and on the other end boutiques that seem very pricey.

Any suggestions for a full length, elegant bridesmaid dress for around the £150-£250 mark. Happy to go a bit higher for the right dress, but all the ones I'm finding are higher & have lots of extra alteration costs.

Thanks

Amazon and Shein have live by bridesmaid dresses

mnahmnah · 18/11/2024 18:42

Look at places like ASOS, Next, Debenhams, Silk Fred. Lots of high street places do bridesmaid dresses.

What style and colour were you thinking? Length?

Feeltoooldtostudybutdoingitanyway · 18/11/2024 18:52

Full length, not too fussy, but with some detail, maybe a bit of lace/interesting sleeves.

Not strapless or full length sleeves, but open to everything in between.

Colour wise, dark green or pale pink- both work.

I don't shop from Shein
Amazon sometimes, but the quality is so varied, that makes me anxious.

I've never shopped at SilkFred, so I'll have a look thanks.
Debenhams have a few possibles.

JJs House is great. I'd try them.

RosieFlamingo · 18/11/2024 18:54

Debenhams online or silk Fred are food quality I've always found. Also, I would wait and have a look at John Lewis, especially in January sales as they usually have lots then.

annlee3817 · 18/11/2024 18:56

Coast in the January sales, also Monsoon

Feeltoooldtostudybutdoingitanyway · 18/11/2024 18:56

@Frazzlededucator do you know what JJ's house is like for returns?

Good idea about January sales for John Lewis, thanks @RosieFlamingo

That's a great budget! Try some of these :)

I found the quality on JJ's house such a hit and miss and for your budget, would go with somewhere different. IF you're ordering from there, order from Amazon as the returns policy is better.

Good luck!

My bridesmaid wore a dress from ever pretty, it was beautiful.

mitogoshigg · 18/11/2024 19:47

Monsoon, next, phase 8, coast all have dresses in the £100-150 bracket.

Wed 2 b

They come really long though so likely will need taking up unless your bridesmaid is 5’10 and wearing heels.

6 different styles of dresses in the colours you have described.

Ever pretty has been pretty good for us, evening dresses rather than bridesmaid for performing) but order via amazon as they have a solid returns policy!

bluejelly · 18/11/2024 19:50

Would definitely recommend Maids to Measure. Gorgeous dresses, made in Europe (not in China) and made of viscose (much nicer than polyester). Have a look at Vinted for second hand too

Coast

Been a bridesmaid twice and been lucky to wear lovely dresses that sat in that price range! They were from TH&TH and Rewritten respectively

Businessflake · 18/11/2024 19:55

What size and shape is your bridesmaid? I ask because I think Ghost dresses (can get on JL) are great value but suit those on the slimmer/less busty side.

quizzywizzy1 · 18/11/2024 19:58

Club L London

Feeltoooldtostudybutdoingitanyway · 18/11/2024 20:06

@Businessflake, yes sorry should have said, definitely on the busty side, a real hourglass figure.

Finding some lovely options on some if these sites, thanks so much all. Going to send her some links & see if we both like the same ones.
