Hi!!
I'm newly engaged (3 days ago!!) and just at the very beginning.

Hoping for August 2025, viewing the venue we love next week.

Overwhelmed doesn't come close!

Where are you up to?

I have contacted several venues and am planning to visit them in person. Additionally, I plan to visit Wed2B to look at bridal dress and I bought some bridesmaid dress swatches from Azazie.

Ooh, I think I'm in this group!
We made a daytime registry office guest list
We've made a few visits to try and sort out an evening reception
We're planning on May/ June next year, with a small budget.
There's a few beautiful dresses on Monsoon in the sale that I'm very tempted by, but the diet has started today, so I'm hoping for a size or two smaller ☺️

Would you choose a wedding dress online? I'm worried that it might be inconvenient if it doesn't fit well. I will buy the bridesmaid dresses online.

My plan is to go to a shop, try a few on for styling/ colour/ size advice, then hunt one out second hand or online. But with places like Monsoon there's a normal returns policy in place, so no harm in trying them out 🤷‍♀️
If I'm doing the rest of the wedding on a budget, I can't justify the £1000ish that wedding dresses seem to cost on average.

Yes, I also don't want to spend £1,000 on a wedding dress that I'll only wear once. I plan to buy two dresses: one formal and elaborate, and another more casual and comfortable for dancing all day.

I'm very tempted by a cape 😁

I am pre-emptively joining you!
Me and the other half talked about marriage. A few days ago I accidentally found an engagement ring, so I'm sure it won't be too long before a proposal!
We've talked about the kind of wedding we'd like. He wants a Catholic church wedding. I'm not as keen, I'd always envisaged it being non religious. But if it is what he wants, I'll go with it!
I'd like to get married next May, he's a teacher, so it will need to be in the holidays. We could maybe do Easter, but I prefer May!
On a really tight budget, unless we get any offers of help once we announce (which is possible, my dad, his dad, my aunt all of which will be delighted with the news and I suspect may make monetary offers). So I'm planning on a 1k wedding otherwise. I'll be sourcing second hand items including dress as much as possible. I'd like to have the reception at home, but I think DPs family is too large for it to work. Doing a quick head count on his side alone from his parents and siblings plus partners/kids - would be 22. We have 4 kids between us. My immediate family would be 10. Then we've a friend with 7 kids... other friends plus work colleagues. Easily getting on for 65+ people. And one toilet 🤣🙈🤭. It's also a semi detached (albeit large downstairs space and large garden) and I'm not sure the neighbours would be overly pleased!
I'm so excited right now, I just want to get properly planning with him, but I can't do anything until he pops the question!

Hey all,
How are you all getting on with the planning?

Hey all,
How are you all getting on with the planning?

I have booked my venue and DJ. Now trying on bridal dresses from AZAZIE.

anon2022anon · 26/08/2024 15:40

Hi!
Planning going okay here, though I probably need to get a shift on.
Registry office booked, pub reception afterwards booked. I think the room for me to stay before/ after the wedding is sorted, though I need to double check.
Dress has been bought, I went for one from a sample sale for £500, with alterations included.
Photographer booked yesterday ☺️

Still need to finalise guest list/ sort invitations and decide food as the next items on the list, and speak to the band about timings to see whether we need a DJ too. Debating whether to bother with a cake.

BulldogMumma · 27/08/2024 10:42

So far I've done
Booked registry office
Booked reception venue
Booked DJ
Booked photographer
Bought my dress
Booked wedding car
Still need to finalise hair and make up, buy rings, but bridesmaid dresses and FH needs to sort his and BM suits

Howtonamechange · 27/08/2024 12:41

Awww how exciting! Good luck to all the 2025 brides.

Just a friendly reminder that if you're looking to get any skin treatments to start early esp if you have any particular problems like acne/ pigmentation etc.

I see lots of brides to be who leave it too late to have meaningful facial or skin treatments and you definitely don't want to have your first botox/ facial treatment just before your wedding

Best of luck ❤️❤️

IsThisOneFree · 01/09/2024 21:51

Looks like I’ll be joining you! (2nd time for both of us, though!) Did the white gown and church last time, this is going to be much more intimate!)

Anyone writing their own vows to include commitment to step kids? Ages range from 22 to 3 so huge variation in understanding and what they need from us! I’d love some good ideas!

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 30/10/2024 23:07

Late August too.
Most things in hand here. Ordered my dress last month which will be ready in March.
Keeping things simple and intimate. I used to have an event planning business so feel confident in keeping things on track and am cutting out things that are not important to us.
Exciting times for us all. Congrats

Feeltoooldtostudybutdoingitanyway · 02/11/2024 23:08

Can I join please, wedding booked for late May 2025.

Feel a little behind with the planning and more than a bit overwhelmed with how much left to do

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 04/11/2024 19:06

@Feeltoooldtostudybutdoingitanyway 👋🏾
What bits have you done so far?
It can be overwhelming but there are checklists and guides you can find to help.
Are you having an all bells and whistles wedding?

Feeltoooldtostudybutdoingitanyway · 04/11/2024 20:09

@TheRealKatnissEverdeen I've ticked off some of the bigger things to sort, so thought I was doing okay, but was surprised by how much was left. It's not a massive wedding in terms of guest numbers, probably counts as a medium size wedding. But yes all the bells & whistles- probably creating more work for myself, I know I am my own worse critic & put too much pressure on myself.

So far we have booked

Church
Venue
Caterer
Band
& bought my dress & the wedding rings.

Still need to book to the Photograper
Sort out flowers
Sort out the wedding cake
Buy wedding favours
Grooms suit
Suits for our children
Buy the bridesmaid dresses
Sort out decorations/table centre pieces
Sort out drinks
Decide a first dance song
Work out transport
Pick out the hymns

And the next big thing is work out making an online rsvp with the food choices & ordering & getting the invites out.

Budget is fast running out, so lots of things from now on will be DIY jobs I think

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 04/11/2024 20:20

Can you use Zola (we are using it) or some other wedding site for online rsvp and menu choice.
You've done loads.
Will the flowers and centerpieces be provided by the same supplier?
Photographer, transport and cake probably good ones to tackle next.
Enjoy it though and try not to be too harsh.

Any tips for getting my fiancé to begin looking for his ring?! He's very laid back and not fussed so I think it will be a last minute purchase. Where did you get bands?

Edited to @Feeltoooldtostudybutdoingitanyway

Feeltoooldtostudybutdoingitanyway · 04/11/2024 20:50

@TheRealKatnissEverdeen thanks, I think I'm just going to have my bouquet & bridesmaids bouquets made up by a florist & then all the other flowers we will do ourselves with a combination of ones grown by friends & some bought from a wholesalers- the cost to have a florist do it all was huge.

Photographer is my next one to tackle- I'm finding it really hard though because I absolutely hate having my photo taken.

Ring wise, I'm quite lucky that my fiancé likes picking jewellery, but what definitely made it easier was not overlooking, just using a jewellers in our closest city & getting rings that compliment each other's.

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 04/11/2024 20:56

Making the centerpieces yourself is a great idea and definitely the way forward for us too.

Looking forward to our plans developing so will keep an eye on this chat x

Hi all
In a few days we can finally say we get married this year!!
How's everyone getting on with planning?

TheRealKatnissEverdeen · 29/12/2024 16:19

Yikes - you're right. Friends keep reminding me the time is flying by.
I'm going to get on top of planning in January and check outstanding items.
