Honestly it looks a bit cheap and nasty to me - have you had a look at Phase Eight and Monsoon dresses?

I bought my Phase Eight Cressida second hand and paid about £300 for it I think.

I think that's plenty of money but I think you could do better xx

Rowen32 · 25/08/2022 13:47

It's okay, the chiffon sleeves look too big - like there's too much material in them and spoil the effect of what they're meant to be doing I think..

KalvinPhillipsBoots · 25/08/2022 13:49

I like it OP, take no notice of the snobs on here.?

Joolsin · 25/08/2022 13:52

I really like it, and what a fantastic price!

Violettaa · 25/08/2022 14:03

my wedding dress was much cheaper than that, so I’m not being snobby. But I’m afraid I really don’t like that particular dress - it’s too blindingly white and the sleeves look like a kids dressing up outfit.

You can get gorgeous dresses for that price if you stop looking for something marketed as a wedding dress. Mine was sold as a bridesmaids dress, but it was cream and gorgeous.

JumpTheGun · 25/08/2022 14:10

I’ve had some great clothes from ASOS so certainly not snobby about it but that doesn’t look like a £385 dress to me. Looks better in the video than on the static photos but the mesh section looks a bit cheap and while I can see what they are aiming for with the sleeves it doesn’t quite work.

Where are these snobs you speak of? Op asked for opinions and everyone's been perfectly nice.. I agree that op could find a better dress though but if she likes it then that's all that matters

DoubleGauze · 25/08/2022 14:18

Asos clothing is very hit and miss. But there's no harm in trying it on. They still have free returns don't they?

PrimroseWharf · 25/08/2022 14:20

I ordered a few Asos dresses to try on and they were all nice quality. I ended up getting a long ivory dress from Coast in the end which wasn’t actually sold as a wedding dress but certainly looked the part. Agree with PP I’m not overly keen on this particular dress but if you like it then order it and see how it is in person!

andpeggy1 · 25/08/2022 14:47

I love that highstreed now do wedding dressers. I do agree with others though this one looks a little cheap (though I think it's very pretty) have you had a look at some other brands? Simply be have some lush dresses, and they are cheaper than this one

Wearefoooked22 · 25/08/2022 14:57

My wedding dress was from asos,
I was surprised how well it was made/fit.

Thecarpetisbeige · 25/08/2022 15:13

Thanks all for responses so far 😊I've had a look at a few other places, Monsoon seems a bit 'hippy' and Phase 8 has a lot of items my mum might wear as mother of the bride. Have yet to try Coast so will take a look there.

Must admit one of the reasons I like this dress is the sleeves, I love big balloon sleeves 😁

roses2 · 25/08/2022 15:20

It looks poor fitting and poor quality - sorry!

Would you consider buying second hand on ebay instead or a bridal charity shop? You'll get better quality for a fraction of the cost of that Asos dress.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 25/08/2022 15:27

Really difficult to tell, not sure what idiot decided to shoot it against a white background, makes it difficult to see the detail as there's no contrast.

I'd be tempted to order it to have a good look and try it on, you can always return if you don't like it.

Cherryana · 25/08/2022 15:28

I got a very expensive wedding dress second hand and the sold it after, for the price paid. So in effect it cost me the price of dry cleaning.

Cherryana · 25/08/2022 15:29

Oh maybe wasn’t clear rrp of my dress was £3000 and I got it second hand for £500

JorisBonson · 25/08/2022 15:31

It's beautiful OP. My best friend got married in an ASOS dress and it was stunning. Go for it!

LadyKenya · 25/08/2022 15:56

I do not think that it looks very nice. It is one of those things though. We are all different. What you think OP is all that really matters.

eldorado02 · 25/08/2022 16:02

I got married in a very simple ASOS dress that cost me £75. It was the bomb! I’m not a huge fan of the style of dress you’ve linked to, so I wouldn’t choose it for myself, but it’s worth trying it on at home, for sure. Do you have a handheld steamer? Getting all the creases out of a dress you order online can make it look twice as expensive, instantly.

ShirleyJackson · 25/08/2022 16:04

I got married in an ASOS dress - it wasn’t a wedding dress, but I felt fab in it.

Ineedtoletgo83 · 25/08/2022 16:05

This one in particular looks a bit plasticky and white. Like it’d create a lot of static!

Ineedtoletgo83 · 25/08/2022 16:09

Some thing like this?

Etsy

Tillymint10 · 25/08/2022 16:11

Its a bit meh

Coast do the best high street bridal range IMO

The white sequin suit & tuxedo dress are 🤤

Whatsthestoryboringglory · 25/08/2022 16:16

I think in the video it looks much better quality than the photos, and if that’s your style then go for it! I’ve returned stuff to ASOS really easily so if it doesn’t look good quality then you can send it back.

Good luck with finding the perfect dress!

Alldelicious · 25/08/2022 16:21

It seems like a lot of money for a "cheap" dress to me, but I don't think it looks cheap.

I like it. I think PPs don't because it's quite a step away from the identikit strapless columns "everyone" has worn for the last 2 decades, but that's a good thing.
