Where to actually shop for high street wedding dresses?

I’m conflicted about my wedding dress. I really don’t want to spend an utter fortune and I know there are lots of really nice high street ones.

High street wedding dresses mostly seem to be online though and I don’t really want to order a bunch on line and try them on at home. I ideally want the experience of going out wedding dress shopping with my mum and future MIL.

Does anyone know anywhere where there are actual shops selling high street wedding dresses? Preferably in the east of England?

thanks x

.

Sorry, think they only have shops in London. You could have a lovely day out though, that's what I did with my mum and sister when I got mine.
I also dyed it afterwards so have worn it a few times since, so lovely to wear again and again.

@HSKAT @MummyDummyNow @wordlewordle thanks for suggestions I’m wondering if anyone knows cities where these shops are big enough to actually have a bridal section? There’s a John Lewis near my parents for example but they don’t stock bridalwear, I can only find it online

I got mine from Reiss

HSKAT · 08/08/2022 17:04

I think Newcastle John Lewis does

LBF2020 · 11/08/2022 21:40

You can try on
Whistles at St Christopher's place in London
Monsoon bridal is only at Westfield I think (worth emailing them to check though!)
I got dresses from phase eight, chi chi London, coast etc and ordered a load and returned as needed.

I got mine from the Outnet which is part of net a porter. They have a big sale on at the moment. Bridal brand called Badgley Mischka. Literally tried all of them phase 8, monsoon, reformation, thread and needle, Whistles, sister Jane, self portrait, ivy oak, halston. But this was the one for me!

Haybo26 · 14/08/2022 12:01

I got mine from online shop Chi Chi London. Paid less than £100 for it. It fitted like a glove and excellent quality. I loved it and everyone thought id paid a lot for it...I obvs didn't tell them haha.

I went to an outlet (not near you tho) £500 but had to pay separately for alterations.

BlueChampagne · 15/08/2022 12:45

I got mine from Oxfam.

Just Google "wedding dress shops near me "
I did this and just made appointments at the two I liked the look and that had good reviews .

Yes I have done that 😵‍💫

A wedding dress shop with an appointment system is not a high street wedding shop and brings up boutiques where the dresses are made to measure and at least £1000. I am looking for places to physically go and try on dresses £500 or under.

Say Yes! in Norwich have a closing down sale on (closing 18/9). They have dresses from £199.

SkygardenTower · 21/08/2022 19:08

Where are your nearest big cities - one we know these we might be better able to help.

Lindy2 · 21/08/2022 19:22

Could you do a day trip to London?

Monsoon in Oxford Street has a bridal section where you can see and try everything on. I imagine John Lewis on Oxford Street would be the same.

Gottoomuchgoingon · 21/08/2022 21:08

There are several bridal shops in my
Local town. 2 within my immediate village.
Where are you based?

fufflecake · 21/08/2022 21:10

Monsoon

I got mine from John Lewis, initually bought online just to try some different styles and shapes easily at home. I actually bought one for £500 - completely stunning dress and I received so many compliments, I just had it altered locally so it fitted perfectly.

I still did the whole trying on in a shop with my closest friend and was neatly swayed by an £8k dress! Thank goodness I saw sense!

I also bought my bridal shoes from ASOS for £30. They were perfect and completely ruined after a day and night of dancing so I'm pleaser I didn't spend a small fortune on them. Again, highly recommended!

weddingwaiting · 21/08/2022 21:47

Thanks nearest big cities are Colchester, Ipswich and Cambridge x

Thanks that’s a good idea, I think I could probably steal myself for a trip to Oxford street! 🤪

I got mine off the rack from Harvey Nichols for £150 in the sale. It was perfect. So yes, agree with day trip to London suggestion!
