First dance songs

Bride to be here!

I'm curious to know, what was everyone's first dance song? Or what will be your first dance song?

Ours is going to be to "Tell me that you love me" by James smith. We're also going to do a private last dance to "This years love" by David grey.

Honourable mentions go to the other songs that we decided we have to dance to on our big day:

Better Place by Rachel Platten is just heaven. It’s actually a song I connect to my DD but would have loved to have had it at our wedding.

We had imagine by John Lennon. But if a weird one but we were going through some turmoil with dh's ex wife re access to his daughter and we liked the sentiment of living life in peace lol

Also we're rock/metal heads and all the ballads we like are about breaking up lol

Though to be fair I walked down the aisle to "there she goes" by the las which is about heroin so....

My favourite part of our wedding actually was walking out of the ceremony to white wedding by Billy Idol

We had a secret wedding ceremony before covid and planned to have a party later but that never happened unfortunately. For a first dance I'd choose For once in my life by Stevie Wonder. I've got a whole album of songs that I'd play during the party but another absolute favourite would be Could heaven ever be like this by Idris Muhammad. I always listen to radio 1, but my wedding music choice is not what I'd usually listen to as a lot of it is songs I associate my hubby listening to (he has an older taste in music) and songs I grew up listening to (Fleetwood Mac, Annie Lennox, Beatles etc)

Walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of Stand Inside Your Love by the Smashing Pumpkins. First dance was Thank You by Les Zepplin. Had another slow dance just us later on to Years From Now by Dr Hook.

I heard it live for the first time at a concert of hers where she played her new album. I don’t usually connect to songs hearing them live for the first time without knowing them before hand. But every single word gave me all the feels and made me think about him.

I was actually with someone else at the time and this song made me realise who made me feel like this and that I should probably marry them! I got home, ditched the guy I was seeing and we got together pretty quickly after that! I said to myself that night it would be the first dance at our wedding and Covid allowing, it will come true this year, 5 years on!

We had ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ - lots of people have done a version of this. A friend’s jazz band played and they learned it specially for the wedding, so we had a jazz version.

We are having amazed by lonestar. My DP puts it on in the kitchen and pretends to be a cowboy to it. If he pulls any of his moves during the first dance I think I might die laughing.

My old boss and his wife had Loving You by Minnie Riperton but they had a live band. I'd love to have been there to hear that!

Our first dance song was Lucky Man by The Verve.
What a great choice! We had a very unorthodox song too by a well known rock band. Upbeat with sweet lyrics.

I couldn't bear to do a yuppy sickly song, I'm cringing reading some of those listed on here.
