Home made wedding favour lip balm

So for the ladies wedding favours I want to make a homemade lip balm. I'm thinking of trying to make a gin flavour one. Has anyone had any experience making their own lip balm & can offer advice on ingredients. There are so many different recipes online with varying ingredients, just wondered if anyone could offer any tips. I can't seem to find many gin flavoured ones. Do I use real gin or gin flavour? Confused Also how do I make the lip balm a nice colour?

I'd recommend following SnackBadgers recipe - works a treat.

Please tell me you're not serving gendered food as well recalls previous thread on strawberries for the women, chocolate for the men

Isn’t alcohol very drying? It might not work as lip balm

If you're really sticking to your guns, Amazon sell novelty alcohol flavoured lip balms which include a gin one amongst others. They're professionally made so your guests can trust the hygiene.
You could always put a mix of miniatures and lip balms on each table and let the guests choose for themselves.

I would hazard a guess that no one has ever made home made fun lip balm, so the chances of anyone having a recipe would be slim I imagine.

Primark always have random flavoured lip balm in big tubs at the tills, save yourself the hassle and buy some or just give everyone actual gin!

I love the OP’s insistence that her friends will love this. Confused

Gin is a very pronounced flavour if you have it neat, and it’s notable that there isn’t a huge market for jumpier flavour ice cream etc. And yet the OP has found a bunch of friends who love the taste of gin but would actively prefer an alternative to drinking it.

Also I’m not even a squeamish person but the idea of smearing someone’s home made gunk on my lips doesn’t appeal.

I can't think of a single person who'd prefer a homemade lip balm to no homemade lip balm. Buy everyone a drink at the party instead.

Wow op, Aibu is viscous tonight.

If I wanted to make something gin flavoured I’d use juniper essential oil, in tiny quantities.

Is this your first time using the internet, or...?

Wow op, Aibu is viscous tonight.

  1. This is not AIBU.
  2. Viscous is an appropriate quality for a lip balm.

Would prefer gin over homemade lip balm personally. I know you don’t want opinions but as this is a forum where you get them I decided to just stick with tradition. Smile

I love lip balm but not home made. Home made soap would be ok.

I made lip balm with dd once, it was rank! Either buy some flavoured lip balm or, even better, give everybody gin! Gin

Don't do lip balm - some people will react to that and have a skin reaction.
Plus its icky - I'd never touch unsealed lip balm, I don't know how clean you are.
Plus it offensive - ladies get beauty products, men get something for fun (which many ladies would like).

I am absolutely baffled by 'I'd be pissed off to receive ....' 'I'd prefer to receive...' comments.

It's a wedding favour! It can be as homemade or as quirky as the bride likes

I think it's a lovely idea and I'd be delighted to have something home made (even if you don't have a health and safety certificate - Hahahahahaha)

Sorry I don't have a recipe though 😉
