Home made wedding favour lip balm

So for the ladies wedding favours I want to make a homemade lip balm. I'm thinking of trying to make a gin flavour one. Has anyone had any experience making their own lip balm & can offer advice on ingredients. There are so many different recipes online with varying ingredients, just wondered if anyone could offer any tips. I can't seem to find many gin flavoured ones. Do I use real gin or gin flavour? Confused Also how do I make the lip balm a nice colour?

I wouldn’t use a home made lip balm. It would go straight in the bin. I’d also drink the miniature leaving my OH with nothing.

one of my friend’s made lip balm as a baby shower present for her guests, and hardly anyone took them. she was left with loads that she couldn’t get rid of. she’s still got them in a drawer six months later.

Honestly wouldn’t touch a home made made lip balm with someone else’s barge pole.

Do you have a hygiene certificate for your kitchen? You’ve never made it before, you have no idea of the ingredients. Just no.

Do you hate your female guests OP? Are you one of those women? Homemade lip balm sounds shite compared to actual alcohol.

Oh god don't do gendered gifts 🙈

I also wouldn't use a home-made lip balm, I also don't drink Gin but, as you say, you know your guests.

Why ask for opinions if you’re going to be defensive? gendered gifts suck, you know the guests but I guarantee the lip balm will be left behind. I’d be annoyed if the alcohol was saved only for the men folk. It’s 2019 ffs

Have you asked your guests what they’d prefer? I’m guessing if you actually asked them that none of them would want home made lip balm. If any say they would then it’s likely to be out of politeness.

You can easily find a recipe for homemade lip balm online, rather than on mumsnet

Wow I would rather have feckin sugared almonds over gin flavoured lip balm and I have a nut allergy!

Yeah if I was given a home made lip balm I'd smile and say "how lovely' then throw it in the bin when I get home. Sorry.

Gendered gifts suck.... And home made lip balm.... Grim. Straight in the bin when I got home.. Just get gin for all!

Just buy them all an extra drink.

Homemade lip balm is a rather strange and slightly disturbing gift.

Why would anyone want a pot of goo boiled up in your kitchen?

If you don't want 'opinions', only a recipe for a massive waste of time and money lip balm, then you might be interested in a little corner of the internet I often use called GOOGLE.

Here is my recipe for a gin lip balm your female guests will appreciate:

Step 1:
Pour gin into miniature bottles

Step 2:
Place on tables feeling happy you have not irritated your female guests

Step 3:
Embrace the fact you are in 2019 where gendered gifts really aren’t ok

Ooh, or to even things up, how about miniature bottles of Castro's GTX for the men's cars- whipped up in a kitchen out of sunflower oil and nail varnish remover.

I hope you aren’t having a pay bar; I find it really odd when people give wedding ‘favours’ (aka table decorations), But make guests buy their own drinks. Also annoying when guests have to self-lubricate (!) when expensive cars have been hired, extra frilly bits on chairs etc - all less important than feeding & watering your guests imo.
