Central Scotland wedding venues

Hi,

I’m back to ask for help with finding our venue. I have had no luck in my previous search radius of up North/ North East, Highlands, Perthshire and Loch Lomond. Venue hire seems far too expensive for our total wedding budget of £3000, booked up for all summer/autumn weekends 2020 and/or too large for our group of apprx. 30 guests. So now I am open to expand our search to Glasgow, Edinburgh and nearby.

I’m open to any venue that isn’t a traditionally decorated hotel and isn’t located in a city, so any modern space (restaurant, small hall, estate etc.) where we could have a beautiful view in the background (gardens, loch, waterfall or something like that) for our ceremony. Either with a wedding team to set up the venue or a blank canvas that we could hire someone to decorate for us (we will be travelling a fair distance so not planning on spending hours decorating the place).

Killearn Hall seems popular, fits the bill but it came in at £3000 for the most basic food&drinks package with venue hire. All country house hotels, lochside hotels and castles that I have contacted are also £4000+ for venue hire and basic services, and I simply think it’s ridiculous to spend that much on a party (I know I am in the minority, most people don’t mind spending many times our budget).

Please help!

@StrongInside BIt out there, but have you tried David Lloyd Gym at Newhaven? They have a large modern function room upstairs that has beautiful views over the Firth of Forth. Also has a balcony so your guest can go outside.

Really reasonable hire prices. They used to give you free room hire if you took their catering. Or you can get your own caterers. You can absolutely decorate the room yourself and use a Ipod for music. They also provide staff and the bar prices are relatively cheap. (Think in line with bowling/rugby clubs)

MrsT4, thanks for the suggestion, you weren't kidding about the idea being out there😊 I could never think of a gym as a wedding venue, that's a bit much. I know cheap is the name of the game and if we were into fitness (we aren't), that coulx have worked. We are looking at hotels at the moment.

Ha ok, fair enough. You don't go into the gym as it's a separate entrance. But I get what you mean. Best of luck with the hunting x

We just booked this hotel for an overnight stay - not been yet so no idea what it’s like but in a lovely part of the country . Looks like it does small weddings

I've been at a lovely (small) wedding at the Malmaison Hotel in Edinburgh, next to the water of leith, no good for you as you don't want the city but it was the kind of thing you want other than that, old building but more modern decor, bedrooms, good food - and rooms of different sizes to hire. Hope you find somewhere similar but in your desired location!
