What was the best hen you've been to?

What was the worst?

Did it have a theme? And if so what?

I went bowling. No sashes, no costumes, no blow up genitalia. It was lovely. And cost about £20 each.

My sister is planning mine but I've heavily hinted at going for afternoon tea

I liked mine - spa day and afternoon tea.

Went round to my chief bridesmaid's house, takeaway, drinks, chatting. Great night.

My partner has decided he's going abroad for his stag but I feel like it's a big ask to ask a group of mum's to leave the country for a few days! I'm toying with the Idea of a fri-sun Glastonbury hen? I love festivals and reckon my pals and sisters would love it too?

We went to a festival for a hen and it was amazing! so much fun.

I also went to one where we hired out a bit house with a hot tub.

Spa days are always appreciated, especially by mums - who doesn't love a bit of pampering.

I just had a meal out. It was really nice and didn’t put less well-off friends out of pocket or exclude them.
If your friends are all well padded in terms of money and paid holidays, then Glastonbury could be great, but it’s a big time and money commitment.
I wish Stag and Hen dos hadn’t got so inflated. In your 20’s and 30’s it can cost £1,000s a year if you are unlucky, - accommodation in expensive Scottish/ country hotels for the wedding, gifts and travel, stag and hen expenses.
People increasingly have 3 day wedding things too: BBQ wedding eve, brunch the morning after
Take soundings from your mates, they may be really up for it, but I’d make it easy for them to say that a night out would be brilliant.

Anything above a meal out or night in with my group is too much in my opinion. I'm not bothered about having a hen do at all..

I certainly don't understand why people deem a three day event necessary for stag/hen dos. Never mind going abroad.. there's no one in the world I would spend that much time or money on - sorry, probably not the answer you're looking for.

I organised a hen do once where a lady came from a perfume company and we all designed our own bespoke perfumes. Everyone said they really enjoyed it . . . I'm hoping they weren't just being polite 😄

Reasons why..
entertainment, sorted.
Accommodation, sorted.
Can take your own drinks to the campsite, keeps costs down.
Festival outfits, you can wear anything. Casual, fancy dress. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. But I think it would be brilliant. Plus if Glastonbury is too expensive. There are plenty of smaller awesome festivals which would be brilliant too

Glastonbury tickets alone are £250. No way I'd be paying to see mostly shit music and not wash for 3 days, whilst leaving my kid. Dinner drinks and dancing is enough!!

unless you have quite well off friends I wouldn't do it. Glastonbury tickets are expensive. I would hate it because camping is not my cup of tea at all!

Will you all get Glastonbury tickets? It’s a lot of money.

I’ve just looked - 2020 will cost £249 + £5 booking fee. That’s just for the ticket. On top of that you have:

Food
Drink
Accommodation
Travel

The 8 man tent at Glastonbury cost £1100 this year.

Realistically a hen do at Glastonbury is costing a minimum of £750.

I don’t really have any friends to invite to a hen do! Having afternoon tea with one friend who is my bridesmaid and dinner and drinks with another friend.

Ah exciting! Ignore the people on here saying they think hens are rubbish. Hopefully if anyone thinks that they will just decline the invitation graciously.

Some people think that more than a meal and night out is too much. If you want more than that then why not arrange a weekend that has the option of people only joining for that bit but arrange some other activities for those that want to spend a weekend on the hen. I love a hen weekend of a close friend!

Activities I've done before were a boots makeup class with prosecco (cost £10 but you got a £10 boots voucher), treasure hunt round the city, flamenco class (wasnt my thing), spa day, Alice in wonderland tea party

Also Glasto is a great idea if everyone I'm the group wants to go and is into music. £250 for a weekend of amazing bands is really not bad. Think how much you would spend on the individual tickets. I go with my close group of friends quite often so if it was my hen it wouldnt actually cost them anything extra.

You can take in your own alcohol, if you already have a tent camping is free, I guess travel might be expensive if you are far but we always drive and split the petrol. Food stalls are not super expensive and have some great choices

I've done a few hens and they have all been great

Berlin - such a great place and so so much to do day and night
Nice - one of my favourite places and more chilled than Berlin
Ibiza - good years ago, not so much now. Expensive
Glastonbury for a joint hen and stag - UNBELIEVABLE - we had one day where the boys and girls split up and had some themes

Madrid and Majorca were good but expensive for a few days away!

I organised a hen in Brighton for my sister. A huge shared house, got some caterers in one night provides all the booze and snack, organised games and a house party. The next night was dinner and drinks with some places reserved. Was really good and not too expensive!

My bridesmaids organized a week in New York it was the best EVER! We had a few spa days, shopping and all the rest. It was so good we repeated it a few years later 🤣

A Glastonbury hen sounds amazing! But I'm reckoning it would be pricey and difficult. We are hoping to have our honeymoon at Glastonbury. 🤣 if we can get tickets, that is.

I'm hoping to rent a big house. Eat and drinks lots. And go to place that I don't want to say because it will be so outing if anyone I know is on here 😂😂

Favourite I’ve been on was lazerquest followed by old school arcade games and fish&chips, then pub
I plan on having a civil partnership with DP once it’s legal next year and am having an informal hen do in the form of staying for the week at Badminton Horse Trials. Similar to a festival, but with horses I am ridiculously excited, the most wonderful time of the year
