Which vegetarian menu?

I've put together two vegetarian menus for an August wedding just wondering if there's a favourite choice (tasting evening in November but it'll be nice to keep this in mind) or any advice on weather it goes together well.
Menu 1
Starter - classic tomato bruschetta
Main - breaded tallegio cheese served on a ratatouille tart with pesto
Desert - lemon posset with raspberry pearls and white chocolate fingers

Menu 2
Starter - tomato basil and mozzarella salad
Main - sweet potato, pea and cumin samosa with baba ganouche, coriander and mint yogurt
Desert crushed almond and double chocolate torte with chantilly cream an white chocolate cigars

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read. There will be a meat menu also but I've left that to my fiancé x

Is option 1 actually vegetarian? Check the pesto and the cheese, as both can easilly contain animal rennet.

MrsBertBibby · 02/07/2019 06:34

I'd check they haven't cheated on the posset and used gelatin to set it too.

SegregateMumBev · 02/07/2019 06:39

Providiing they are both truly vegetarian (as others have mentioned)....

They both sound nice balanced selections. I'd prefer option 2, but would not be unhappy to be served option 1.

BadnessInTheFolds · 02/07/2019 06:52

Are veggies having a different pudding to meat eaters? Because that's my pet hate- mostly if their pudding looks nicer Grin

Unless meat eater pudding is actually not vegetarian (suet etc) I'd give everyone the same to prevent pudding-envy!

FermatsTheorem · 02/07/2019 07:02

Menu 2 for me.

TapasForTwo · 02/07/2019 07:07

I agree with Badness re the puddings. It has happened on flights a few times when the airline makes the vegetarian option vegan and just provides a fruit salad instead of a pudding.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 02/07/2019 07:12

Definitely agree with pp about the puddings - my pet hate! No need for veggies to have something different to the others. Having said that both your pudding options look good (unlike the dreaded plane fruit salad)

cricketmum84 · 02/07/2019 07:16

Veggie here and i would go for 2 although wouldn't be disappointed by menu 1. They both sound really good! The dessert pipped it for me :)

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 02/07/2019 07:48

Lemon posset sounds like something vomited back up. I'm veggie and wouldn't touch anything that I wasn't sure was actually veggie so anything with pesto would be a no or any cheese I hadn't heard of. Puddings too tend to have gelatine. It's worrying how many caterers/chefs/restaurants don't know that gelatine/Parmesan/Gorgonzola and some others aren't veggie. I had to point this out to an Italian restaurant at the weekend. It doesn't give you any faith in their food being suitable.

BogglesGoggles · 02/07/2019 07:54

Number 2 seems really random-mozzarellas salad, followed by samosa (which is paired with babaganouche-why?) and then chocolate tart.

BogglesGoggles · 02/07/2019 07:55

Also be sure that the cheese doesn’t contain any rennet.

ShartGoblin · 04/07/2019 16:58

I'd be happy with either, I'm delighted whenever I'm offered anything that isn't mushroom risotto!

icecreampanckaes · 04/07/2019 17:03

Also pesto is made using parmesan which isn't vegetarian either (unless they'll be using a veggie Italian hard cheese substitute)

FenellaMaxwell · 04/07/2019 17:03

Starter and pud from 1 but main from 2!

Pinkprincess1978 · 11/07/2019 18:00

Not fussed on either starter - both mains sound lovely but 2nd main sounds more startery than a main. So for me...

Starter - 2nd main
Main - 1st main
Dessert - 2nd dessert

I know that's not much help but I'm hungry and that's made me hungrier 😂
