Coloured stone engagement ring

We've been looking at engagement rings. I want something small but I really don't think I want a diamond solitaire as that's what all of my friends seem to have. What are everyone's views and experiences with coloured stones? I've been looking at sapphire, aquamarine and morganite stones. How durable are they? Im possibly warming to wards aquamarine or morganite because they arent quite as bold but then sapphire can look so pretty... ! Would I end up regretting a coloured stone? Grateful for everyone's thoughts to help me make my mind up because I keep changing my mind and worrying I'll go off a coloured stone or that it won't age well.

I have an emerald with two diamonds. Have worn it every day for 29 years & wasn't bought new. Still looks fab.

I have a heart shaped topaz.
It's very individual, tiny and I love it

I dislike plain diamond rings. I had no idea what I wanted years ago. My famous last words were." I definitely won't be getting a sapphire " of course we chose a sapphire and it is beautiful. Can't work how to put picture . But it is a gold band, with 1,2 and 3 diamonds an oval navy sapphire and 3,2 and 1 diamonds.
My other fav ring is also a marquiste setting , Prince of Wales emblem on the sides with a navy sapphire central surrounded with opals . I bought it in a sale about 25 years ago. Lost it last year and nothing could remotely be got like it.
I was devastated and gave up wearing my rings. It turned up not long ago inside a glove.
What I am saying it does not have to be expensive or anything , just as long as you love it.

We still haven't made a decision. I really like morganite as I like the pinky peachy colour. I'm worried that it will easily scratch as it's not as hard as other stones. I've come across a peach sapphire but does anyone know if that's an actual thing or is it man made/ synthetic?

All these rings are beautiful, what about a ring with yours and his birth stones in? Just a thought x

I have a stunning emerald surrounded by diamonds like a slightly smaller version of the princess diana sapphire engagement ring. Plain diamond never appealed - what everyone has. Colour makes it more special

I like coloured stones as well and always fancied a topaz engagement ring but bottled it in the end and chose a solitaire.

Have never regretted it, but still quite fancy a topaz ring!

I got a diamond - thought I'd stay classic, but I'm not really a classic kinda gal and I really, really regret not getting an aquamarine. I love that stone so much. The blue makes me happy just looking at it.

Go with your heart, OP! Oh and congrats on your engagement Wine
