Wedding venue help! Scotland

TerribleTwosPhase · 07/05/2019 19:58

Can anyone recommend any nice places to get married in Scotland?
Not for a massive wedding thinking around 40 guests. I feel like I'm hitting a brick wall trying to pick somewhere. All the hotels locally have been done to death and I want something a bit different. Stay in central Scotland but happy to travel! (As are our guests) thanks!

Venues we've been at in the last 5 years or so:

Crossbasket
Glenbervie
Loch Green
Piersland
Lochside
Oran Mor
Dalmeny Park
Caledonian
Cameron House
Killearn
Boturich Castle (amazing scenery but you don't get in the castle, just a marquee)
Winter Gardens

The only thing I'd say is that the weddings with the fanciest venue on paper haven't been close to being the most enjoyable so don't focus too much on that, just go for what you'll have fun doing 😊

Been to a few at Glenbervie; best of the generics in the area.
29 in a Glasgow, what’s now the Principle In Edinburgh and House for An apart Lover are also fab. Don’t rate New Lanark or glenskirlie.

Linlithgow Palace and/or Burgh Halls. Beautiful and halfway between Edinburgh/Glasgow on the main railway line.

I adore House for an Art Lover, food is great too.

Saw this on Facebook recently and it’s a gorgeous wedding. I like the idea of 2 really long tables.

I'm at bit jealous, I haven't been to a wedding for years, I think I'll have to wait for the second round!

I too went to a wedding at Cornhill Castle in Biggar. A beautiful place. My friend only had a small 30 people wedding and it was lovely. The staff couldn't do enough.

Thanks everyone! Wedding viewing officially starts tomorrow, we are going to go and visit a few places and get a proper look! It's so hard looking at the websites and brochures to get an actual feel for the place! These ideas are all great, thank you all so much.

@Blackcountrychik83 was the wedding in the castle or in a marquee? I know someone who got married there but here was in a marquee but she had a lot more guests so not sure if that's why. I quite like the look of there but only if it was inside if you know what I mean?

DH is in a wedding band and is currently playing at a wedding in Carlowrie Castle...it's literally just along the road from us but we'd not heard of it. He says it's a stunning venue...and he never likes much lol it's not far from Edinburgh Airport.
