Wedding venue help! Scotland

Can anyone recommend any nice places to get married in Scotland?
Not for a massive wedding thinking around 40 guests. I feel like I'm hitting a brick wall trying to pick somewhere. All the hotels locally have been done to death and I want something a bit different. Stay in central Scotland but happy to travel! (As are our guests) thanks!

We got married at Ardoe House Hotel. Stunning place. Great staff. The grounds are amazing. And they do a pretty good deal for weddings. We had a winter one. But they were very accommodating for all the changes that go along with any wedding.

There are no hotels on Incolm, op but it is beautiful.
It's a ruined monastery?, lots of birds and wonderful views up and down the Firth of Forth.

combatbarbie · 08/05/2019 07:32

Sweetheart Abbey is stunning but you need good weather which, of course, we can't even guarantee.

Dumfries House & Auchinleck Estate and gorgeous.

we got married on the banks of Loch Awe - STUNNING... piper walking us down from the hotel : www.ardanaiseig.com/ (sorry no good at links!) And the Ardanaiseig is considered to be one of the 'most romantic hotels in Scotland' - it was all perfect... we had lunch on the steamer on the loch after the ceremony - but the hotel can host a 'proper' wedding breakfast...

Mother87 · 08/05/2019 08:01

Funny how we won't give the name of our cats/DC's as it's 'outing' but a few of us will say where we got marriedGrin

nooddsocksforme · 08/05/2019 08:07

A Facebook friend got married at Fernie Castle in Fife - somewhere near St Andrews I think. It looked lovely.

LittleBlonde27 · 08/05/2019 09:38

@TerribleTwosPhase What do you mean by different? I'm a bridal consultant in Glasgow so hear about just about every venue in Central Scotland Grin What are your personalitys like? Do you like barn/castle/modern?

I was a bit fed up of hearing "Lochside" or "Glenskirlie" when I asked brides where they were getting married (both gorgeous but very popular) so we're getting married at 29 Royal Exchange Square in the city centre.

TerribleTwosPhase · 08/05/2019 15:09

Thanks everyone, still trying to have a look at them all Grin
@LittleBlonde27 I know, the Lochside is lovely, but I went to 4 weddings there last year!
I was a bridesmaid at a wedding in the lodge on Loch Goil. That was lovely and a bit different! But obviously I wouldn't use it now Smile

Were open to all sorts of ideas, to be honest we haven't a clue what sort of day we would like, other than it will be quite small. I think we'll just need to start actually going to visit places.

You should really really see Fingask, it’s impossible to appreciate in a photo!!

PolkadotPuffin · 15/05/2019 01:21

I've been to weddings in both Hospitalfield House in Arbroath and Rose Function Suite in Broughty Ferry, both a bit different (most weddings I'm invited to seem to be in hotels nowadays) but both were really lovely.

AudacityOfHope · 17/05/2019 12:07

Oh yes, Hospitalfield is stunning!

wigglybeezer · 17/05/2019 12:17

Inchyra, near Perth.

silkpashmina · 17/05/2019 12:29

We went to a small wedding at Eilean Donan Castle, Kyle of Lochalsh and then a meal at the Seafood Restaurant which is on a railway platform. We all stayed for 2 nights across the road from the castle. Best wedding I have been to.

AgentProvocateur · 17/05/2019 12:49

West Brewery at Glasgow Green - I was at an amazing wedding there
