What did you have/ are you having as wedding favours?

I was actually quite keen to not have any, but DP is insisting that we should...

SO - what did you have for your wedding favours? Or what are you planning on having?

We've got around 120 guests so ideally I'd like to keep costs low!

Kangaroo scrotum purses with sugared almonds......he was Australian. We told everyone what they were made of a few days later.....

Save your money OP. Unless it's a tiny bottle of alcohol (which many venues don't allow), they invariably get left behind. People rarely care about a handful of sweets at 1am.

Nothing. They’re totally unneeded and usually left behind.

The only favours I’ve ever appreciated were breast/testicular cancer badges with a note saying that in place of favours the B&G have made a donation to Cancer Research. Much better use of money than sugared almonds or a keyring with someone else’s wedding date on it.

Years ago now but we bought 100 of the £1 pins for a couple of charities that are close to us

I wouldn't bother. They'll either get left on the tables or binned when people get home.

A bag of sweets & a fortune cookie. The cookies were great because everyone cracked them open before dinner & they got people talking at the tables.

I got married in 1995 when it was the fashion to have 5 sugared almonds. I made the favours a few days before the big day and made the mistake of trying an almond. Broke my tooth and mad dash to emergency dentist apt . Not the best decision I’ve ever made. I now think they are completely pointless. Save your money OP.

I made mini welsh cakes with my mum a few days before and popped them in cello bags with a nice ribbon. I also did the kids little activity boxes that matched the decor with things they could fiddle with during the speeches.

I loved making welsh cakes with my mum and it will always be a happy memory to look back on. I didn't see any left behind.

We are having Lego Minifigures where the guests can create their own figures. We are big Lego fans and although we are only having 40 guests, it has cost us quite a bit to put together but we feel it's worth it as it will be a bit of fun for everyone. Other ideas we had were little plants or perhaps sweets.

Thanks everyone. Take your point entirely @Justmuddlingalong - I was only taking control because every idea he's had has been very expensive or near impossible!

I think I'm going to stick with not having any - we're already providing a free bar, that should be gift enough!

We’re big tabletop and boardgamers so we had personalised dice. Everyone got a die in a little bag with their name on to mark where they were sitting at the table. It didn’t cost loads (I bought a job lot of pouch style bags on Ebay) and the dice were about 30p each. Some people left them behind but what that mostly meant was the gamers went round scooping what was left up for themselves at the end of the night!

We didn't do anything explicitly, but we had collected loads of vintage crockery to serve up our cream tea after the ceremony. We wrote our names and date on with a ceramic pen and invited our guests to take them home if they wanted to. Some did, some didn't. But no additional expense and not too much extra work.

We had scratch cards in little envelopes which matched the menus and place cards etc. Got everyone to scratch them at the same time after the meal x

Our place names were striped paper bags with name stickers on and then favours were fill your own sweet bags. We did the pick and mix ourselves super cheap from Bookers. It was very popular for people to munch on through the night and my dad said he couldn’t believe how many people walked out with their bags rammed to the brim with sweets (which we were pleased about- meant didn’t have loads left over!)

We had lucky dip lottery tickets. Don’t think anyone won. If they did, they didn’t tell us!

Miniature jams! It was a country wedding and they went down pretty well. Under 50p each (I think), good brand, and we tied the place names to them.

Hi OP! I was very much of the same thought as many. If the guests can't eat or drink them then a lot of them are left anyway. We wanted to do alcohol favours and I managed in the Xmas sales to buy miniature sets from Aldi of both gins and whiskys. They've cost on average £1.05 per favour which is a lot cheaper than what the wholesalers sell them for. They looked really good with most of the bottles bein glass. With all the money I saved I bough little personalised tags on etsy. Never saw a single one left!!

Well, our planned favours were wine glass charms with each person's name on them, and they doubled as place settings.

They were basically £3, because we got most of the stuff free.

But... Like you, we had a free bar. And when we were packing up the next day, we sent most guests away with a crate of beer, cider or wine!

We didn''t have them. Seem pointless to me (when I attend weddings as a guest) - I'd struggle to tell you what I'd had at any wedding, tbh.

I went to a wedding where they'd scattered silver foil covered chocolate hearts on the table. It worked well and saved on table confetti.
