Church weddings... Hymns?

If you're happy to, please can you tell me your hymn choices for wedding! I really need to get thinking about this now, 6 month countdown

I t was over 25 years ago now, but I had 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind', Lord of all Hopefulness' and 'For all the Saints'.

I chose The one that starts 'how lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him' - Our God Reigns? And How Great Thou Art, maybe not the most traditional wedding hymns but 2 of my favourites and I love the references to nature, and also they have plenty verses as it's one of the few occasions you get to choose the songs and these ones can be sung really loudly!!!

I had lord of the dance and sing hosanna.

I had All Things Bright and Beautiful and Jerusalem... We had a beautiful piece called Wedding Day At Troldhaugen by Grieg while we signed the register....

Choose hymns you like, but also ones you know people will sing with gusto. We had Jerusalem and Dear Lord and Father of Mankind

I agree with pp try to choose ones people might know as it sounds so much nicer than some random humming along, be thou my vision would be on my list too.

Think I had sing hosanna (sp?) lord of all hopefulness and one about love ....I can't remember 🤔🤔🤔

Not a church goer or religious in anyway but I love Jerusalem. Everyone does!

Sing hosanna is lovely.
I assist my dh who is a wedding photographer and recommend if your budget allows book a choir because from experience not many sing the hymns.

Agree that a choir will be a big help if the church has one.

We had Jerusalem, Sing Hosanna and One More Step Along The World I Go. We wanted ones that we had a good chance people knew!

Choose hymns people know!

Barely anyone knew the latter.

The last one is a bit jingoistic, but no more than Jerusalem and I love the tune.

I love tell out my soul but it’s a toughy to sing!

We had Be Still My Soul, which is usually for funerals

Choose ones people know. I went to a wedding where the couple chose "Make Me a Channel of your Peace" which is a hard hymn to sing even if you know it. Turned out that I was about the only person who did.

We started with ‘one more step along the world I go’ to get people into singing something familiar and because the words are perfect for a wedding
We then had Jerusalem as I’m in the local WI and a lot of the ladies were there
Lastly Guide me oh, thou great redeemer (Bread of Heaven) because again, it’s a very well known one and we had a lot of welsh rugby fans who sang it wonderfully

'Bind us together Lord' is a lovely one for a wedding

Guide me oh thou great redeemer (DH is Welsh, hearing a church full of welsh rugby fans singing this at full blast is one of the happiest memories of my day)
