Any 2020 Brides Out There?

Mummyme87 · 04/12/2018 19:25

Hi!

Just wondering if there are any 2020 brides out there?

I have 11th April 2020 (Easter Saturday) booked. So excited.

Venue booked (ceremony and reception), in house caterers (initial appt 1st April 2019), photographers booked, had a cake baker booked but she has cancelled due to relocation so will get back on that in January. I’ve been in touch with hair and make up artist, also florist is pencilled in, will make a consultation appt after Christmas. Favours organised but not paid for yet. Wedding rings ordered. Think that’s it for now.

Me!!!! We have been searching and searching for a venue and found the perfect one. We are not having an evening do but getting married at a super lovely hotel in the Cotswolds then having meal for family after. There will be 30 of us. I'm hoping by 6pm everybody is gone and we can sip champagne in the honeymoon suite Wink

Btw we are having a winter wedding. Feb 2020, doing this as we have a holiday to Sri Lanka already booked for later in Feb.

boredboredboredboredbored · 14/04/2019 13:18

I've been in touch with a few florists and have been quoted £320 for

Bridal bouquet
3 adults bridesmaid bouquets
1 flower girl
6 button holes
2 corsages

Not sure about the tables. May have vases with eucalyptus to match my bouquet. The room is grand enough anyway so I may not bother.

RavenLG · 25/04/2019 16:59

It's kind of scary seeing how organised people are. I've not even started thinking about make up / hair or tried on any dresses lol. I've got the big things booked but have a very lackadaisical approach ahah.

LittleBlonde27 · 08/05/2019 10:19

I'm late to the party but I'm 23 May 2020 too!
Got everything booked now, just invitations to sort and then the little things like decorations/table plans etc. Bit gutted I've nothing left to do with a year to go!

Charlottejade89 · 04/06/2019 17:05

Very late to the party but I've just booked my 2020 wedding, 28th June so only just over a year away! and if it makes anyone feel any better I've booked the registrar and venue and that's it lol

snidgetowl · 29/06/2019 21:00

October 2020 bride here! We've only booked the ceremony venue, the reception and the registrar so far. The only thing I'm really keen to do soon is sort a photographer - otherwise I'm pretty chilled about everything else!

Angbunnyboo · 29/06/2019 22:46

August 2020, everything organised and booked apart from the registry office, can't book until a year out and I'm keeping everything crossed we get the date and time we want otherwise we're royally screwed!

And the dresses for me and the wedding party. Can't believe Im so organised but its just a small weekend away for immediate family and friends, and its my second wedding - I should have realised the first one wasn't the right man when I refused to organise anything and my mum and sister had to do it all!

Hi everyone, I'm new to MN. I just got engaged (ring still being resized, most of the family don't know yet) and we are just starting to look at small venues with a view to getting married mid- or late summer 2020. I joined MN specially because it is a UK forum. Looking for money saving tips as we will be doing the wedding on a tiny budget.

krazipan · 19/07/2019 21:53

Hi, I've just got engaged and planning on getting married in February 2020. I don't even know where to begin! But I have bought a dress...so it's a start!

Brideof2020 · 20/07/2019 08:12

Yeh me !!!! September 2020, ceremony venue, reception venue, car, pre wedding night and wedding night accommodation booked (reception venue has no accommodation) my shoes bought, (absolute bargain and could not resist) rings ordered (awaiting sizes) !! Eeek can't believe how organised I am !! Have lots of pins added on my wedding board on Pinterest !!
We are only having a small wedding and a much more relaxed celebration, with only a few of the traditional formalities. What colour scheme are people having ? I'm really struggling to find an invitation design I like, any ideas anyone?

Brideof2020 · 20/07/2019 08:17

@krazipan - I started with deciding on venue, paid deposits. I can't book my registrar (how expensive !!) Until September this year, but I'm working around the times I want, fingers crossed !! But both venues and our car hire only do one wedding a day so I've secured the date and hope that any time changes are minimal due to registrar.
Wow Feb 2020 isn't that far off!!! What kind of wedding are you having.

krazipan · 20/07/2019 09:00

@Brideof2020 well...it started off very small but we keep thinking of more people we want to invite! 🙈
We have the meeting with the registrar on Monday and the venue where we want the meal afterwards. I'm thinking get married about 3:30/4 then restaurant for a meal. I think we can hire out the whole restaurant so could spend 3/4 hours there then finish up.
It just sounds so insignificant when I type it out though!

Brideof2020 · 20/07/2019 10:33

@krazipan Sounds similar to what we're planning. Ceremony around 2pm, photos and drinks, then off to reception venue no formal wedding breakfast, buffet around 5-6, and then evening celebration with light bites later on incase guests are peckish not to soak up the alcohol !!! It sounds ideal if you can have the restaurant to yourselves though. We've had people on and off the guest list !!! (No invites have gone out and only close family have been told verbally) I've been told its about who you WANT there and not who you think should be there. Celebrate and have it your way not how you think you should. A reoccurring message that I keep getting told !!

krazipan · 20/07/2019 10:46

@Brideof2020 that's what I need to remember! It's so hard! I thought I'd be really strict on who we invited but I don't want to offend anyone.

squishee · 24/07/2019 14:07

Just got engaged last night, have not yet told a soul!
As we want to avoid doing so via FB, and hold off until we see most of our family and friends in person

Sandhead1 · 24/07/2019 22:21

Hi everyone

I’m getting married In May 2020

I have booked my venue includes food, band, photographer and wedding dress.

Next on the list is humanist, cake and florist (unless anyone can make any other big suggestions I’ve forgotten).

How long should I leave before booking
Stationary
Transport
Bridesmaid dresses
Rings

Any pointers? I’ve been very relaxed until now and starting to panic slightly.

Mummyme87 · 25/07/2019 05:35

Stationary depends what your doing. The woman I used said it was never too early and recommended I send invitations out 9months before in view of it being Easter weekend wedding. On the day stationary I will contact her a lot later.

Transport I don’t know as I don’t require it for my venue. Probably again depends on how popular the day is your have booked.

Rings we bought really early, wanted to get a big payment out of the way.

Bridesmaid dresses again depends if you know what you want, if there may be fluctuations in weight... two of mine are in the process of losing weight so will leave that a bit later

@Sandhead1 - as a PP said stationery depends on what you are doing. I've ordered save the dates to send out soon. Invitations I will probably send out April / May next year, we're getting married in September. If you're just going with invites, then if it was me with a may wedding, I would probably send them out September/October this year. What's your guest list like- are you having children attend? Theres half term in May, and we tend to have our main holiday abroad in May, we're already booked for next year.
Transportation - I would say depends if your day is a Saturday, Bank Holiday etc then I would look into as soon as possible. I've already paid deposit for mine.
Rings - we found some we really like DHs was in the sale - we have paid deposits and just waiting for sizes. Rings are one of the things that are always available. It's just a case of finding ones you like.
Bridesmaids - I would say depends on whether you are having them made or buying them from a shop. If you're having them made then I think I would sort them as soon as possible they might take a few months to make. If you're buying them then I think you've probably got a few more months. It could also depend on how many are you having?, do you want them all in same dress, or happy to have same colour different designs.

Nearlyusnai · 30/07/2019 06:57

Hi Everyone,
We are getting married on the 29th of December 2020. I'm the world's most organised person.... Lol my family are amazed. So far I've -
Venue ceremony and reception in the same place
Band
Photographer
Minister
Cake
Photobooth
Wedding dress
Flowers
Flower girls dresses
Bridesmaids are 90% decided on just need to wait on this winter passing to see if there's anything else I like.
Still lots to do but I'm waiting till after the summer so the money pot can refill. Lol
