Mummyme87 · 04/12/2018 19:25

Hi!

Just wondering if there are any 2020 brides out there?

I have 11th April 2020 (Easter Saturday) booked. So excited.

Venue booked (ceremony and reception), in house caterers (initial appt 1st April 2019), photographers booked, had a cake baker booked but she has cancelled due to relocation so will get back on that in January. I’ve been in touch with hair and make up artist, also florist is pencilled in, will make a consultation appt after Christmas. Favours organised but not paid for yet. Wedding rings ordered. Think that’s it for now.

@Mummyme87 you're much more prepared than I am! All we've done is booked the venue and ordered save the dates! Slightly overwhelmed every time we look at the to-do list haha.

Hoping to go dress shopping March/April time, excited!

What colours/theme is everyone having? We're going with a rustic feel as it suits the location. Have been looking at dusty rose colouring/bridesmaid dresses Smile

Mummyme87 · 05/02/2019 13:37

tillypea we are getting married Easter Saturday so wanted to get save the dates out within good time as it’s holiday season!

Colour wise we are going for purple, pink and cream kind of colours... see Shropshire confetti company ‘kaleidoscope’

I’m April 2020 too! I thought I was super organised but you’ve done even more than me! I thought I was being crazy by considering contacting a florist already but now I’ve read your post I’m going to do it tomorrow Smile

Frazzlerock · 28/02/2019 14:16

We plan to get married on Easter Saturday too @Mummyme87, though we can't book the venue yet as they're not taking bookings until they finish renovations. Once we've booked then it will feel more real.

We're having a very small wedding ceremony with a pub party afterwards.

CatchingBabies · 01/03/2019 21:43

Me!!

I’m getting married May 2020, haven’t decided a definite date yet. Just looking at venues now and then will choose a date based on availability. I’m leaving dress shopping until last minute as I’ve got a lot of weight to lose first.

OpiesOldLady · 01/03/2019 22:14

Hi all

Dp and I got engaged on 16th February and are planning on getting married on 12th March 2020. We're planning a very small service with around 20 people on the day itself, with a cream tea and then on Saturday 14th we intend to have a party for the rest of our family and friends.

It's mostly all sorted. We've printed out our save the dates/invites/RSVPs, flowers are done, we have both venues sorted as well as catering for both confirmed. Also confirmed hair/make up and entertainment.

Just need to sort suit and dress and I think that's about it.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 03/03/2019 15:01

August 2020 for us. I feel very disorganised compared to come of you - dp and I have, ummm, done a spreadsheet Grin

Although we did have the venue booked by April of last year, because we knew exactly where we wanted to be, and everything else can follow from there (hopefully!)

We're not having a cake or bridesmaids, a friend will be DJing...so we just now need to sort food drink dress rings flowers tables photographer stationery makeup hotels registrar and all of the other tiny details - easy peasy Grin

Oh yeah, and knock off a couple of stone while I'm at it.

CatchingBabies · 19/03/2019 02:51

Venue and registrar booked, we officially get married on 30-05-2020, very excited now!!

Mummyme87 · 19/03/2019 07:04

We have our digital proofs for invitations, need to pay deposit with florist now.

Have a hair and make up initial trial on Tuesday which I’m a bit anxious about as I’m looking so pale and tired right now (I have a 4.5yr old and a 14m old who doesn’t sleep much).
Wedding dress shopping in a couple of weeks time!

You all sound very organised....think I need to start thinking about a florist. I was going to wait (we are moving house) but a bit worried that it'll be too late if I don't start....we need a florist who is used to our venue as its specific and we only have two hours to dress the hall the night before.

Seems like a long time to wait til next August :)
Bought my wedding dress though (I had that moment where it was perfect and I had to buy it!) Xx

Mummyme87 · 19/03/2019 10:03

LOTR I contacted a florist before Christmas to ask how far in advance to speak to them and she suggested in the New year. The good ones get booked up quickly, although that goes for most things. Especially if you need one that has worked there before.
We only have access from 9am the day of the wedding But the staff at the venue, florist etc will be doing set up

Me hopefully Grin we're currently trying to work out what we want and therefore how long it'll take us to save but it's looking likely to be August 2020 - also August specifically because it's the school holidays so our teacher guests / DSD / other younger guests will definitely be off school or work.

Mummyme87 · 01/04/2019 22:25

Yes I had to consider schools also, I have a son in primary school and also my mam lives up north and worksnin a school so had to be a holiday time

Me! It's coming round so quickly!!

MissMogwai · 05/04/2019 13:06

I'm getting married May 2020

So far have I sorted:

Booked registry office and paid booking fee
Ditto the reception
Bought bridesmaid dresses as found an absolute bargain

What else can I do at this stage? When should I book cars, photographers and florist!

Mummyme87 · 05/04/2019 15:00

missmogwai I am getting married in April 2020 and we booked photographer in June last year, cake woman sorted and florist.
If they are popular dates, may weekends I suspect are busy, get in there as early as you can

MissMogwai · 05/04/2019 19:43

Thanks

I'm worrying about the photographer as I hate having my photo taken!

Originallythoughtssince1984 · 07/04/2019 14:37

Me! Grin April 2020 bride too. Trying to be super organised as I have 2 young children to work around. Venue booked, registrar booked, photographer booked, bridesmaid outfit all bought, just booked hair & make up. Started dress shopping & found the style that suits me, just got to find the dress. A friend should be making my cake. Got a florist app later this month then hopefully I'll be able to sort out invites (not doing save the dates as the ceremony is going to be quite small so saved some money by sending a message to everyone to save the date, lol). Planning to part make the invites myself so need to get cracking. Eek it's so exciting.

Mummyme87 · 07/04/2019 15:38

Have been trying on dresses yesterday and today. Have another place tomorrow. Gosh. It’s hard!!!

Originallythoughtssince1984 · 07/04/2019 16:03

Only been to one shop so far & was pleased to find my style so quickly. It's pretty overwhelming tho trying on fancy white dresses trying to pick one with little input from other people. As we aren't having a big wedding I want to try to keep as much as I can to myself to try to make it just that extra bit special so only my mum is seeing my dress.

popsadaisy · 08/04/2019 07:26

I'm 2020 (March 20th) can't believe how quickly it seems to be coming around! I'm already getting a nervous tummy just thinking out it!! Currently trying to sort a florist! Unfortunately didn't realise when we booked we are getting married the Friday before Mother's Day so all prices have been put up!! What sort of price are others been quoted for flowers? I know it will be different depending on how many etc. I'm looking for five bouquets (me and four bridesmaids and 3 flower pins for groom, best man and dad) so far had one quote of £500, seems steep?

Mummyme87 · 08/04/2019 20:19

I’ve been quoted £1700-2200 (a range depending on certain flowers and brexit fluctuations). That’s for bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaid bouquets, two junior bridesmaid posies, flowers for hair x3, 7 buttonholes, 12 table arrangements, 12 end of aisle arrangements, a flower arch, cake flowers. Hire charges for vases and wood slices included, and delivery. It’s a lot but flowers are a lot and very labour intensive.

I’ve said yes to the dress today!!!

MissMogwai · 09/04/2019 23:16

Yikes flowers seem £££!

We went to a wedding fair on Sunday and from that we're going to book the photographer and cars as they had great offers on. All local businesses with fab reviews.

Just flowers to book. I only want a bouquet for me, 2 bridesmaids and a toddler flower girl, and flower pins for groom etc.

Oh and my dress and the men's suits need sorting too.

delilahbucket · 10/04/2019 22:44

May 2020 here. Church, breakfast venue, evening venue, photographer, evening caterer and cake maker booked. Aims by the end of April, book florist (a family friend), book DJ and print invites that I designed. Not bothered with save the dates as the people we really want have all been contacted directly. Feeling like I need to get my bum into gear now!
