Dress for elopement

My DP and I are getting married in April next year.

We haven't told anyone we're engaged and plan to elope - which we would be doing sooner if it weren't for prior planned events!

I'm having real trouble deciding what to wear!!!

I really want to wear a beautiful wedding dress, but I also want it to be simple and not 'too much', as it's going to be just me and DP.

We're getting married in London at a registry office with Chelsea Pensioners as our witnesses, then after a few photos we will be hopping on the Eurostar to Paris for a couple of nights.

Also, I really want to wear my dress for the journey to Paris as when we arrive, a car will be waiting to take us for a lovely meal and I want it to feel special.

Am i crazy? Help!!!

What is your size and height?

sleepismysuperpower1 · 17/10/2018 18:15

this dress could be used for either event link

and maybe something like this for the elopement? link

tequilasunset · 17/10/2018 18:17

I'm quite short at 5ft 2in and a size 10.

Those dresses are beautiful but I think I want something a little more bridal...arghhh!

Do you want a dress that you can wear again?
What's your budget?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 17/10/2018 18:25

If you want something bridal ish but understated, try looking at Bridesmaid dresses. Something very pale blush pink could be lovely

tequilasunset · 17/10/2018 18:29

Reaa that dress is beautiful! I might order it to try on.

Not really fussed if I can't wear it again. Budget wise, I have an absolute maximum of £1k for dress, shoes, floral head piece and hair stylist!

JeSuis* that is beautiful! But I'd like something white ideally!

Have you looked at reversible dresses - so white bridal one side and black the other?

Meant for bridesmaid but would be a good idea

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 17/10/2018 18:38

Look at Ted Baker, Needle and Thread and Self Portrait. It seems to be between seasons so check again in a few weeks!

Long or short?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 17/10/2018 18:56

Can I be cheeky and ask your age?

tequilasunset · 17/10/2018 19:00

Thank you sadnessin we're very excited!

I'm undecided on length!!

I'm 30

I eloped too - I wore a white Balmain mini dress 😍

Then had a big party when we got home so i could wear my fancy "real" wedding dress but without the pressure!

Best decision ever

The dress @Reaa suggested is gorgeous

SimplyPut · 17/10/2018 21:31

Sounds magical.

I would go for a tea length dress, you want to look like a bride! Sparkly heels and a beautiful vintage hair comb.

Drink champagne on the train and dance under the stars... make the very best of it!

dannydyerismydad · 17/10/2018 21:36

Jenny Packham does some fabulous beaded 20s style wedding dresses. They would be elegant and perfect.

redastherose · 17/10/2018 23:04

Reaa suggestion is best. Beautiful for the wedding and easy to put a nice jacket over for travelling.

VenusInSpurs · 17/10/2018 23:42

I think vintage tea style is the way to go. Lovely frock , with little jacket for the travelling and dinner. Change the accessories.

I’mnot Sure about flapping about in Eurostar in something white and bridal, andApril can be the cruellest month.
