Losing weight before wedding

We are getting married in October 2019 so plenty of time. Anyone want to join me on a weight loss journey? I have 19lb to lose.

Following! I haven't set a date yet but we are going Venue shopping this weekend and don't want to wait too long as we have a close relative with a deteriorating health issue. I want to look my best - that's about 2.5 stone off. I started 3 weeks ago by just cutting out mid week drinking and preparing all food and snacks for work and I seem to be losing around 1lb a week which I'm happy with :) I don't want to do anything too drastic as I'm going for a lifestyle change to be a healthy weight rather than a quick fix

RafikiIsTheBest · 17/05/2018 14:56

I think that is a lovely dress and the sort of style I'm looking for. You look great.

Kateandme I get where you're coming from, but I do need to lose weight, being overweight isn't healthy and something like a wedding is great motivation for us all. Plus I want to be able to happily look at my photos and share them with family and friends. Not hide them away out of embarrassment like I do with current photos.

The diet that I seem to lose weight quickly on is no sugar no carb, so that's what I'm doing at the moment. Hoping weight loss continues, still losing 1lb every 2 or 3 days.

Kate you're correct but my weight has increased due to a very debilitating illness 4 months ago and I want to be back to me.

kateandme - my fiance says this to me. The scales and the doctors are correct though - I need to lose several stone to be healthy, and back to the person I was before.

It's not just about the wedding - I have both reached a peak in my weight, and come to a time where I need to put my health first in several different ways. Part of the escalation (and loss) of weight, has been down to work stress. Wedding pictures are a microcosm of not even being happy looking in a mirror, because in my head, I am still the person in my old photos, and I WILL be that person again.

For anyone who can afford it, I wholeheartedly recommend getting a personal trainer. Mine transformed my workout form just 'going on the machines for a bit' to be confidently taking part in classes, really pushing myself in sessions with him, and motivating me to keep up with character counting.

I pay £250 for 12 sessions. I winced, but when it comes to an end, I'll pay it again, because it's the best investment I have made in myself in a long time.

I do think that most of us lose weight by eating better foods - more vegtables less processed junk food and sugar. Whether it's a quick fix or a longer process.
That's got to make you feel better too regardless of losing pounds.and you get better skin if you've done the dieters trick of upping water levels!
So there's me being all smug in an earlier post to find I couldn't do my dress up when I tried it on yesterday Back on it for me....

Tigger83 · 17/05/2018 15:54

Just been for a long walk and on track points wise for today! Feeling very determined atm. It's my birthday tomorrow so must be good!!

New trainers 1.5m in 15mins. Feet feel good, I'm shattered and a busy weekend of gardening ahead to in preparation for artificial grass to be laid. Oh well, must have been wicked!

How is everyone else getting on?

Well it was my birthday on Friday but so far I've stuck within my points. Seeing dr today for my post baby check then hopefully I'll be able to do some exercise. Unfortunately my baby is not a sleeper so im exhausted.

At the moment losing weight feels like a huge mountain as I'm so down about how I look post baby 😔

Helpmeplan · 21/05/2018 11:26

Tigger I'm sure you look gorgeous. Bloody hard with a new baby.

Just to let you all know how my wedding as a fatty went.

I felt an absolute million dollars and despite being a stone overweight my dress looked amazing.

Best advice I can give you is buy the dress that flatters you and your figure, not what you think will flatter you. Try loads of styles on and make sure your hair and make up is the best you can afford.

I had an absolutely amazing day and didnt once worry about my weight or how I looked.

If you want to lose weight for health reasons then do it. But don't do it because you are getting married. It's a fuckton of pressure on you and will spoil your run up to your day. We only got married because of legal stuff and protecting ourselves. Never had a hankering for a 'Big Day'.

But it really, really was the most amazing, beautiful, fun day of my life. We did everything our way, was a simple service, home made flowers and cake, no photographer, only a couple of very short thank you speeches. Basically the complete opposite to the Royal Wedding.

Loved every single second of it and spent zero time worrying about my weight.

Congratulations Frouby! What a lovely picture and I'm glad you had such a fun day.

Ultimately I know I won't care about my weight on the day... I just want to fit into my dress so I don't have to go out and get something else! But I'm not going to put silly amounts of pressure on myself.

Have lost nearly half a stone over the last few weeks which is encouraging. Am mainly trying not to snack, and have set myself a challenge to eat up all the soup in the freezer for my dinners as we need the tupperware back!

Helpmeplan · 22/05/2018 12:12

You look damned amazing! So beautiful. I know exactly what you are saying, but for me to feel like me again I need to lose weight.

Lost 2lb this week, it's slowly coming off 😁

Helpmeplan · 23/05/2018 12:03

Run this morning, slowly getting less tired.

Tigger83 · 24/05/2018 09:48

Had a sneaky peak before weigh in tomorrow, looking like 3 and half pound loss.... I'm really hoping 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Helpmeplan · 24/05/2018 10:34

Fantastic Tigger

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 25/05/2018 09:45

Wow that's amazing!

I have been weighing myself every day (I know, I know...) and haven't lost anything so far this week. But at least I haven't put anything on! Am hoping it's just water retention or something...

RunningAddict · 25/05/2018 09:47

Hi can I join too?

Not sure how much I want to lose, but I’d like to tone up and feel confident in my body before my wedding. It’s October 19 too! Smile

Helpmeplan · 25/05/2018 10:39

Yes RunningAddict. Very welcome. Seems an age away
