Small venues in Scotland

Hi looking for really intimate wedding venue in Scotland preferably central but I really wouldn't care if it was perfect. Iv got two children under 5 and I'm not in touch with my side of family except from maybe a couple of single aunts it will really just be my other half's family and a few friends so roughly 30 people. Not really bothered about budget either, I'm not a millionaire though so nothing daft lol.

Our ideal day would be wee ceremony, lunch (quite like the idea of an afternoon tea, please don't judge me too harshly) or dinner then some music, drinks & dancing maybe some fireworks a toast and bed lol.

I'm up for any suggestions and don't really mind the setting just want something that's going to be memorable and that is child friendly as our friends all have children under 5 too.

The white room in house for an art lover in bellahouston Park.

Mustang27 · 01/03/2018 19:25

Thanks Sevendown. Is the room called something else now. Just checked the website and wedding brochure and there was nothing mentioned.

I know the area and it wouldn't be a struggle for any of my guests so il definitely take a look at it.

You never mentioned religious or not but the wee chapel in Edinburgh castle only takes a small number and is nice for something intimate. They also have a small civil room.
Edinburgh Napier uni has a nice venue too and a friend had their small wedding there.

The most beautiful place I have seen for a wedding in scotland (imo) is the walled garden in Applecross . I recently had a celebration In a private room In the Corithian in Glasgow and it was very very good

Mustang27 · 01/03/2018 23:24

Not religious no Mad but lovely suggestions.

Didn't fancy roman camp, pollok house or chatelherault all lovely but not my cup of tea.

Couldn't see enough of greywalls need to do more googling but crear looked nice.

The water lily is very nice but looks to big for our meagre guest list, shame as the Canadian log cabin piqued my interest lol.

The walled garden in Applecross looks very pretty I liked that a lot.

Loads of ideas it's just confirmed more that I'd really not want a traditional type wedding day at all. I found a place near Melrose called Roulette which is basically a meadow with old style caravans it looks beautiful. I think we need to go view a few of these venues to really decide but there is definitely more choice than I expected.

I'm open to more suggestions still we won't likely set a date until March 2019 at least.

Fruin Farm near Helensburgh? Not sure where you'd stay though...

Redtartanshoes · 01/03/2018 23:41

Malmaison in Glasgow

phlewf · 01/03/2018 23:48

All these suggestions are lovely. There’s a small venue at Pollock Halls, can’t remember what it’s called but it has beautiful hand painted wallpaper and a very manicured garden. One long table and beautiful food. If I am widowed in my 80’s and get remarried to another octogenarian that’s where I’ll do it.

Orozco Pier in South Queensferry, looks onto the small beach and forth bridges. Beautiful cobbled street outside too. X www.oroccopier.co.uk/wedding-gallery.asp

Bookywooky · 01/03/2018 23:59

Glenskirlie castle is beautiful too. Look at photos of the stained glass window in the ceremony room. Gorgeous. X
