Small venues in Scotland

Hi looking for really intimate wedding venue in Scotland preferably central but I really wouldn't care if it was perfect. Iv got two children under 5 and I'm not in touch with my side of family except from maybe a couple of single aunts it will really just be my other half's family and a few friends so roughly 30 people. Not really bothered about budget either, I'm not a millionaire though so nothing daft lol.

Our ideal day would be wee ceremony, lunch (quite like the idea of an afternoon tea, please don't judge me too harshly) or dinner then some music, drinks & dancing maybe some fireworks a toast and bed lol.

I'm up for any suggestions and don't really mind the setting just want something that's going to be memorable and that is child friendly as our friends all have children under 5 too.

I think the white room is officially known as the music room

Ardenaisaig near oban, it’s is so beautiful!
We looked at it for our wedding and I was so upset that we couldn’t manage to cut down the guest list to fit, huge family on my DHs side.

Been back to stay a couple of time and it’s just stunning.

I got married at the Orocco Pier, Southqueensferry. Beautiful! X

I have a few places I'm going to organise visiting soon, really excited. Some of these places are absolutely beautiful thank you for everyone's suggestions.

I’m getting married in 4 weeks. Google crear wee weddings and you’ll find a beautiful place for small intimate weddings.

Shenanagins · 08/03/2018 18:51

1599 in Glasgow. Lovely venue.

ziggy1986 · 08/03/2018 23:26

Some of these are massive venues!

What about The Treehouse at the Lodge on Loch Goil

thelodge-scotland.com/weddings/wee-weddings

Takes about 20 I think

Also the Lighthouse in Glasgow has room looking out over the city that takes 16.

jacobsgirl · 08/03/2018 23:42

Would suggest carnbooth house hotel in busby

Parents got married there and they had a very small wedding only about 80-90 folk at the max

They had theirs in December and it was amazing and felt very vintage but I'm sure it would be beautiful in summer also

ziggy1986 · 09/03/2018 00:23

Small is 10-20 not 90!

AgentProvocateur · 09/03/2018 00:24

There’s a thread on Reddit about the Lighthouse cancelling a booked wedding as they don’t do weddings any more. Here’s a screenshot, but the full thread is on r/Glasgow

Sorry that's just how many my parents had lol

There was only 15 at ceremony

Mustang27 · 09/03/2018 21:47

Agent that poor couple. What a disgrace. I really hope they get somewhere. Sloan's is quirky. Il not be trying the lighthouse that's for sure.

It will be a spring wedding jacobsgirl and that is a more than double my numbers which makes me worry it would look too sparse and sad lol.

My partner loves the treehouse ziggy. We will go see that one.

Iv seen crear that's the wee cottage and you can get married on the beach?

Glenfinnan house

celtiethree · 09/03/2018 21:52

Cromlix House would be an option.

DeathByMascara · 09/03/2018 21:52

A friend of mine was married at Alexander House near Auchterarder & it was the most laid back, enjoyable wedding I’ve ever been to. All in the one house, the family had stayed there all week - it was great.

Timeandtune · 09/03/2018 21:55

I agree that Cromlix is lovely. The service is amazing and they cater very well for small weddings. Another option would be Killearn Village Hall with catering by the 3 Sisters Bakes.

Carolwithane · 09/03/2018 21:56

29 In Royal Exchange Square - can't rate them highly enough

jacobsgirl · 11/03/2018 02:09

Fair enough OP I'm sure you'll have a beautiful day no matter what
Good luck !

Mustang27 · 11/03/2018 02:22

Carnbooth do do smaller than your parents and the house is beautiful I can see why you recommended it and it's extremely local to me. I'm looking at that one. Thank you for the suggestion.

www.strath.ac.uk/rosspriory/weddings/

This place is a lot nicer than the website suggests. I think they have redecorated & not updated the pictures. The food is really tasty & not too expensive.

We had a family birthday there where we booked out the bedrooms & onsite cottage.

JellyTeapot · 11/03/2018 16:05

We got married on the beach at Crear, it's really beautiful there.

dementedma · 11/03/2018 19:55

great thread - am looking for venues for dd's wedding. she quite fancies Lindores Abbey but hasn't visited yet. she doesn't want a hotel.

jacobsgirl · 12/03/2018 02:42

Op
Glad you looked into it further than I did
A beautiful location for sure !
Good luck again

Fluffyears · 09/04/2018 20:25
