Would I be seen as tight if...

Would it be tight if me to just have a bridal bouquet and no bouquets for my two bridesmaids?

Do they need to be seen holding something?

Would it also be bad form if I get my hair professionally done but not the bridesmaids?

I'm doing my own makeup.

(Smallish low key Wedding)

The bridesmaids could walk in arm in arm with groomsmen - that's what they do in America

wintermonster · 29/01/2018 08:09

The wedding is in Hampshire near Brockenhurst if anyone can recommend someone who will come out to do hair?

It won't be 250 quid for one up do in Hampshire

It really won't

And yes it looks tight if you have your hair done and not BM's

I don’t agree with this, that’s entirely normal but £250 for one up fo is absolute madness.

coffeeforone · 29/01/2018 08:30

I think they need something to hold, yes.

For hair, I have always paid for my own as a bridesmaid and my bridesmaids paid for their own. £250 is astonishingly expensive.

I paid £50 for my bridal hair. And about £20-25 for each of the 5 times I have been a bridesmaid.

Twice the hairdresser came to the venue, twice they came to the mums house (church weddings) and twice we went to the local salon first thing. The cost didn’t change.

Brighteyes27 · 29/01/2018 08:37

Do you or they or extended friends not know a talented friend who can cobble together a bouquet and another to help with hair and make up?
It can still be fun and work without costing the earth although most people do tend to get carried away at weddings.

Brighteyes27 · 29/01/2018 08:40

We paid for flowers and my hair and the two bridesmaids hair. I got my make up done and one of my bridesmaids did her make up and the other bridesmaids make up. It was a bit of a bonding thing as one was my best friend and the other wa my husbands sister (they live away) so hadn’t met before the big day.

You can buy bunches of gypsophila (sp?) for about £3. They make pretty BM bouquests

thecatsthecats · 29/01/2018 12:31

Eh, we forgot ALL of our flowers at my sister's wedding! We just clasped our hands in front of us, it was fine!

My fiance and I aren't fussed about flowers. Our friends brought us a bouquet at the weekend - £15, I tied a ribbon around the stems, and it looked wonderful!

wintermonster · 29/01/2018 15:18

Just popped to Dunelms and picked up stamps of eucalyptus and peonies and it looks fantastic all put together.
Managed to get enough for a big bouquet for me and two lovely bouquets for the roses maids with some left over for the buttonholes.

All sorted for less than £50 Star

Next job - decide what to do about he hair Confused

Do you know any mobile hairdressers between you or have none have you not got a talented friend.

wintermonster · 30/01/2018 20:58

I'm also struggling with the dress - I really want long lace sleeves and keep finding the ones I like (such as the one pictured here), but I really want it in dusky pink.
Can anyone help?

And this

MamaLupine · 30/01/2018 21:45

Hooray! Managed link! They come in pink and you can order swatches of fabric. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a true dusty pink which isn'tnt very helpful.

Make sure you get your dress from a reputable website if your planning on buying online, I’ve seen some horror stories about dresses turning up looking completely different to the pictures.
You can pick up some second hand dresses on Facebook and gumtree, at least then you could try them on first. Otherwise if your trying to budget a lot of high street stores such as Debenhams, monsoon, Asos etc have bridal sections.
