Was there a specific reason

We chose April 29 as it was his birthday as well so double celebration

Had to be in school holidays. On a Saturday. Before my sister moved to live abroad. Narrowed it down a LOT Smile

ChippyMinton · 04/11/2017 19:43

Mine is the anniversary of the date we got together. It meant the wedding appeared to the guests to be a random weekday in mid winter, but it was meaningful to DH and I.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 04/11/2017 19:46

It was the only Saturday in the summer holidays for the next two years where the tide was open for the causeway to the tidal island (where the church is) for the guests to be able to walk over and back at low tide! We had to get it up and running in 7 months or wait 2 more years. I got it done!!

ImogenTubbs · 04/11/2017 19:49

We couldn't do it before summer, so chose the first date after the summer season as soon as the prices dropped by a third. It was late September and was the most beautiful sunny day. We were very lucky.

Allthecake · 04/11/2017 20:21

It had to be out with cricket season because otherwise we’d have no guests (or groom) 🙈

WhatHaveIFound · 04/11/2017 20:22

We had a December wedding as both sets of parents lived abroad at the time and it was the only month we could get everyone back to the UK.

Squ1ggle · 04/11/2017 20:54

May bank holiday Sunday because even though it was a bank holiday it was still the Sunday rate which was cheaper and it meant nobody had to take a day off work either before or after to come and enjoy themselves

Mumthedogsbeensick · 04/11/2017 21:17

We got married on my 40th birthday on the 28th September it was bloody awesome because I was 5 years cancer free and had just been signed off from the hospital too!

PastysPrincess · 04/11/2017 21:20

It was 3 years to the day that we had started dating and 1 year to the day that we had become engaged.

oldsilver · 04/11/2017 21:28

Wanted school hols (work in school) - first available registry office date was a Wednesday at 3pm which was ideal...it also happened to be 6 weeks away.

Beautiful sunny day at the end of May, an amazing, relaxed, no frills, joyful weddinv happened - we all laughed from beginning to end. Perfect Smile

OhWhatToChoose · 04/11/2017 21:32

Picked the date based on the temperature at our honeymoon destination. Originally we’re going to get married July but moved it forward to April as it’s too hot in Las Vegas in July.

RandomUsernameHere · 04/11/2017 21:43

It's my DParents' wedding anniversary Smile

BikeRunSki · 04/11/2017 21:46

Ours is also 29 April. It was the next available Saturday at the register office we wanted.

honeyroar · 04/11/2017 21:47

Because the day, month and year were all my lucky number!

Mascarawandlady · 04/11/2017 21:49

We got married a year to the day of our engagement. Didn't want to hang it out too long so worked out perfectly.

Doilooklikeatourist · 04/11/2017 21:49

As others have said we ( meaning I ) wanted a June wedding
So that’s what we had , the church and the reception venue were available , so we went for it ( 8 months after we met )

DeathByMascara · 04/11/2017 21:52

Our venue was perfect for a winter wedding, equally beautiful in summer but it has the edge in winter. Massive fireplace, looks so stunning when lit.

Cheaper weddings in off season months.

Those two combined made us pick the date that was closest to our 5 year anniversary.

ReinettePompadour · 04/11/2017 22:00

I have a family tradition going back 7 generations of getting married on a Wednesday. I didnt want to break it so the day was easy (and 50% cheaper than a weekend wedding).

I wanted an autumn wedding but wanted it early autumn with dry(ish) days and gold/red/orange foliage for the photos. That narrowed down the weeks. Being a pagan made it very easy to pick the Autumn equinox for our wedding day. Grin

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 04/11/2017 22:01

It was during the summer solstice ritual, so we didn't get to choose! 😂

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 04/11/2017 22:02

We had to postpone our wedding (we chose the glorious 12 August) because we found out DS was due two days before. I couldn't decide on a new date and DH got fed up, and accused me of not wanting to marry him. To shut him up I said I would marry him on the first Saturday after his birthday. So our wedding anniversary is 3 days after his birthday which is great because we usually go away on holiday that week.

Honeycombcrunch · 04/11/2017 22:06

We booked the first available date. We had both been married before so neither of us wanted a big, expensive wedding.

TheScottishPlay · 04/11/2017 22:07

I like the number 21 and it was nearest we could get to my parents' wedding anniversary which follows a family tradition.
It also fitted with our Minister going to watch The Ashes.

Blueroses99 · 04/11/2017 22:13

April 21st. It was the Thursday before Easter weekend. We both have enormous families with lots of children, it was in school holidays, and anyone that couldn't/didn't want to take a day off work for the ceremony still managed to join us in the evening knowing there was a long weekend to recover! We planned it all inside as we had no expectations of nice weather but as it was in the middle of a heatwave, some activities were brought outside into the garden which was lovely.

emmaluvseeyore · 05/11/2017 00:16

We booked our wedding this week and have managed to book the 2 year anniversary of the date we got engaged. We wanted 2018 but couldn’t find anywhere that was free, so went with 2019. Our engagement date happens to be a Saturday in 2019, so it worked out perfectly.

IWouldBeSuperb · 07/11/2017 17:47

The Saturday closest to when we could book the longest chunk of annual leave - an epic honeymoon is way more important to us than the wedding! Grin
