Weather

So are we going to get any more snow in the SW or is there a warm front coming in?

I am glued to the weather but they all seem to tell a different story.

Met office are saying no snow (maybe a tiny flurry) and possibly turning to rain by the end of the week.

BBC are saying that its not going to turn to rain and we will get snow (heavy on wed).

I am in west Dorset and would really like it to snow (not rain).

So will the warm front bring rain or snow?

Oh ditto, am in bristol and am desperately trying to find out the same answer. Am hibernating at my mum's and if it thaws I will go home BUT I don't want to go home and get snowed in again, am pregnant and have a 2 year old DD. Being stuck in the house would be hell.

EccentricaGallumbits · 10/01/2010 10:49

it's snowing here in north wilts right now. again.

Marne · 10/01/2010 10:51

Its snowing now but only fairy dust, TBH i don't think we will get much more , i have a feeling it will turn to rain. Although i would love for it to snow as the dd's havn't really had the chance to build a snowman (snow not deep enough) and the school has stayed open (they would love a snow day).

Peachy, i drove into somerset yesterday (just up the road) and they seem to have loads more than us . Dd1 is not too bothered about the snow but dd2 loves it (it sends her hyper) and she runs around like a mad thing.

South Dorset - defeinitely getting warmer tried to snow this morning, metcheck says to expect some tonight but temps getting warmer during the week.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 10/01/2010 11:02

Oh and rain is forecast

Marne · 10/01/2010 11:08

Its funny how different the forcast's are, do you think they really know whats going to happen, at the moment i am liking [http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/4171?count=10 bbc]] weather as they forcast snow for wed but the met office and metcheck say sleet, snow and rain.

peachy- im not so far away from you by the sounds of it and its snowing here has been all morning

SuperBunny · 10/01/2010 11:45

East Dorset - no snow here today although there was a little overnight. It must've warmed up now because my car has defrosted. I DO want more snow. Just tonight and tomorrow morning.

PeachyWillNeverVoteBNP · 10/01/2010 17:41

OOh bigtits, we're in Caerleon. It snowed in a uselessfashion and then stopped. The school has had pathways dug but ds3 has to travel toLlanmartin so I willstill be checking the roads (ours is still an ice rink).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/01/2010 20:07

It looks like a bit of a battle tuesday night for the SW. It could be heavy snow, or it could be heavy rain or quite likely a mix of it all.

In general though, a bit warmer by day, enough to have a bit of a thaw and prob be too marginal for snow, then quite possibly freezing over at night. horrendous!

Marne · 11/01/2010 08:31

Thanks Kitten - it does look like a bit of a mixture, i suppose it all depends on the temp, it looks like if we do get heavy snow on teusday it will soon turn to sleet and rain . Not looking forward to it freezing over as driving will be a nightmare.

Yay, I think the end is in sight for OX area , using the site from Brize Norton Airforce Base there is no sign of minus temps. Just a steady 0 and +1 = looking like a slow or slower than slow thaw. Geez I hope so, my car has not moved since last Wednesday when I was one of the unfortunate who got stuck. I am sooo so fed up of walking miles to work.
Grrrs. Automatics are useless in this weather.

WilfSell · 11/01/2010 10:07

We had another coupla inches of snow over night (Staffs) but we're a bit higher up. Some brooding clouds overhead also (though not snow-yellow)

rubieroo · 11/01/2010 10:16

WillSell, hiya,
You are near my sis? Stoke on Trent?

rubieroo · 11/01/2010 10:21

Bucketing down with snow at 6am this morning, it stopped but dd has just text me saying that the snow is coming down, fist size snowflakes again (Gloucester).

I don't think we will have it as bad again as it seems to have warmed up a lot.

PeachyWillNeverVoteBNP · 11/01/2010 11:09

We had a few bits thismorning (S E Wales),wonder if the gloucestershire weather will get to us, thats always 5050.

Whilst I am happy formoresnow myself, silly Dh took the smart car this morning and hasnt got his mobile on so Icant warn him (smart + snow = no go)
