Weather always inaccurate

Is anyone else finding the weather forecast really inaccurate? Said it was going to rain all day yesterday and today yet not a drop. What websites does everyone use to check

I find Accuweather is the most accurate.

Yes, I think my app has showed rain & lower temps for the entire month vs reality

Showers are often very geographically specific so it’s possible that parts of your forecast area did receive showers throughout the day, just not exactly where you are.

Perhaps but i’m often all over the area if that makes sense home, school, work, shops

Often find myself cancelling plans because it said the weather is going to be awful only to find out it’s the exact opposite

Unless it says 100% chance of rain for every hour of the day, there will be gaps in the rain, and sometimes the rain will miss you entirely

Accuweather is great as it tells you the percentage of the geographical area that will get wet. When it tells me it's raining outside and it isn't, I'm just not in the 60%. It is also not uncommon for it to rain out the back for a good few minutes before it starts out the front of the house.

Have used BBC weather for yonks and enter my postcode to try and ensure maximum location accuracy.
Have certainly noticed that when it comes to rain, it is often wrong (at the moment it is building up hopes for a nice drop of rain only for them to be dashed when it stays completely dry). Yesterday we were 97% rain and we got nil, a couple of days ago we were 100% and got nil.☹️
I never change plans due to the forecast but at the moment, after all the dry weather I get a bit frustrated when I am expecting a nice drop and it doesn't happen.💦

I use the Met Office (which updates regularly throughout the day) but accept that British weather is changeable so don’t regard the forecast as gospel.

Yes the bbc one was the one I used but I’m finding it is probably the least accurate. Plans were the beach so not much fun in the rain

I actually meant more that rain has been forecast every single day for weeks but then the day before tmw it changes. Same for the temperatures, it’s always hotter than it says it will be.

It’s only this summer I’ve noticed. The rest of my life it’s been pretty accurate.

I use the Met Office app too. As you say it updates during the day and I find it mostly accurate

Try using the LOOTFW method. Works really well.😉

Agree with this. When the weather is 'changeable' as it is at the moment, rain is a very hit and miss affair. I got soaked earlier today and thought we'd be in for rain all day as a result, but it dried up, sun came out and I got a load of washing dry, even though my forecast was a 60% chance of rain. Luckily for me the 40% came up trumps!

How does one gauge the temperature via this method?

For that one needs to use the OTFD and step outside method

If you want a sensible answer, watch the long forecast they give on the Countryfile TV programme on Sundays. It's for farmers, and about as accurate as you'll find anywhere. For the UK, anyway.

But when you are looking, unless it says 100% then rain isn't forecast for definite, there is a chance that part of the area you are looking at will get rain.

Most people just look at the picture the app chooses to display for the day and if it says rain they assume that means heavy rain all day which is valery rarely the case

I don’t assume heavy rain all day but I assume if showing a chance everyday for 2-3 wks etc that some rain might appear in that period. As I have said I have never seen it so off as this summer. And the temperatures are always off
