Weather always inaccurate

Is anyone else finding the weather forecast really inaccurate? Said it was going to rain all day yesterday and today yet not a drop. What websites does everyone use to check

It's probably reasonably accurate based on what it is actually forecasting, not what people think the app is telling them.

For example, I think the percentage is the chance that it will rain in each location over the time period, not the fraction of the area that will see rain.

But unless there's a good chance of wall to wall sunshine, ie settled high pressure, most days could probably be covered by 'sunshine and showers' so if you don't want to waste a day, you'd be best just going out and taking a jacket and/or umbrella with you.

Which is what I did when I was younger with no access to a weather app on a phone 😆

We do normally get on with the day, unless like I said it’s the beach which is 2 hours from us and I don’t want to travel 2 hours to sit in the rain

I used to find Alexa surprisingly accurate when it came to rain. If she said "rain is due around 3 o'clock" she'd usually be only a few minutes out. These days it can be raining outside and she'll tell me "no rain is forecast today".

The met office app - scroll down and watch how it thinks the showers will play out - can be forecast to rain and then you see they all skirt by you

I sympathise OP. I have noticed that recently the forecast has not been as accurate in our area as it usually is. This morning I had a bike ride planned with a friend and we spent ages discussing what time to meet and where to go based on comparing several weather forecasts. But we got drenched in heavy rain that hadn't been forecast and the wind direction was completely different too. I used to find the Met Office page pretty reliable but over the last few months it's been wrong on lots of occasions. I think the weather is getting ever more unpredictable.

The Met Office app will be the best for the UK. BBC used to used Met Office as its data supplier until a few years ago, and is noticeably less accurate since it changed to a cheaper supplier
