An unusually early warning for the low possibility of some extreme rainfall for NE Scotland at the end of the week. Note the text of the warning!

Please keep a close eye on this one and be prepared to act if necessary. Ensure that if you live in an at risk area that you are ready.

@QuietFlame St Andrews have a virtual open day coming up, first Wednesday in November I think.

Brechin is not looking good at all. Can’t believe how stupid and selfish people are in refusing to evacuate. It just puts extra strain on the emergency services who then have to rescue them.

This is a mental 18 hour time lapse of the North Esk river.
Wind has picked up in Edinburgh.

Love the artificial grass being blown off. Mess with nature and she gets you right back!

Some of us have it because we're disabled and can’t mow the lawn!

Raining cats and dogs our drive is a paddling pool already. This is just the start in NW Wales. Candles and matches organised.

Angus Council have said this:

SE England (yellow warning for rain last night) seems to have avoided it all

RoseDog · 20/10/2023 09:00

We are stuck in our houses due to flooding, thankfully we live up a hill but at the bottom where there is only one access in and out the burn has burst, flooding houses close to burn.

BobTheCobblet · 20/10/2023 09:47

I am in Cheshire and battled through deep floods to get my dd to high school. Got back home to a school closed message, arrghh. By the time I was driving her home it had reduced massively. My ds goes to a school in the other direction by bus. His bus broke down in a flood so they all had to wade through the flood to a replacement bus!
We are in the amber warning area so dread to think what the red area is like. The time lapse of that river is scary.

Hedjwitch · 20/10/2023 09:49

From DD2 in Blairgowrie. This is a road

Bradford is still under the yellow weather warning and the rain is battering the windows. Not due to go Amber until lunch time and i cant imagine how it’s going to get worse than this so I really feel for those in the red area.

PocketFullOfPuddocks · 20/10/2023 09:56

Is that the Coupar Angus road @Hedjwitch ? We are in highland Perthshire and it’s not nearly as bad here as 2 weekends ago but family near Kirkmichael have no power and trees down.

Thanks, yes DD has booked on it!
I keep thinking St A will cancel tomorrow 🤞🤞
mid it’s so bad up there.

Hedjwitch · 20/10/2023 10:45

I think so,yes.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 20/10/2023 10:57

Latest radar looking pretty nasty for a good chunk of central England. Scotland seems to be getting a bit of a breather.

Sky News saying another red warning issued for Scotland, will try to find details...

CoffeeBeansGalore · 20/10/2023 11:47

Metoffice update for Angus/Aberdeenshire. Red warning has been extended.
Yellow warning for Sat has been upgraded to Amber.

justasking111 · 20/10/2023 13:00

We're coastal and the tide is out so have to wait and see. The rain is relentless the council who are financially skint haven't cleared the drains which are full of sand so blocked. We're just waiting.

Poor Scotland it's just awful. I saw pictures of Ireland yesterday 🙈

justasking111 · 20/10/2023 13:02

I've candles, oil lamps, torches handy, which I do advise others do. We're used to power cuts but other areas may not be.

feellikeanalien · 20/10/2023 13:49

Checking in from Northumberland. Had to pick DD up at lunch time as the roads are starting to flood. Came through some quite deep water on the way home (nothing like as bad as Scotland though). Some of the fields are quite badly flooded so water is running on to the road.

We now have our flood doors on and I had three missed flood warning messages from the Environment Agency when I got home.

Our river is in the red zone and although the rain is not torrential it is constant so we just have to wait it out.

Hope everyone stays safe.

CaveMum · 20/10/2023 14:16

Suffolk/Cambs border here. According to the going report at Newmarket racecourse (which is a very useful source for local weather!) we had about 43mm of rain between Thursday morning and 11am this morning but it hasn't stopped raining for several hours so I expect that to go up significantly.

CaveMum · 20/10/2023 14:20

Colleague of mine on the Suffolk coast has just posted to the office WhatsApp, their power has gone off and local roads are flooding.

TheShellBeach · 20/10/2023 14:23

Three people in Scotland have died now.

TheShellBeach · 20/10/2023 14:29

We're on the West Coast of Scotland and it's very windy but no flooding ATM.
