It is impossible to give spot forecasts for thunderstorms, but I'm hopeful that by late afternoon any risk will have died down.

Also in Eastern region and looking out for those storms. Don't suppose any idea what Friday is going to be like?. Supposed to be accompanying DS on beavers overnight camp

TheoriginalLEM · 18/06/2019 20:49

Oooh we are on north kent coast. I love a good storm although only if im safely ensconced in my bed! Should I get excited?

BlackeyedGruesome · 18/06/2019 21:25

I am watching the lightning map to continuous flashes of light and thundering noise. no not a storm, just waiting for the bulb to kick in and come on must replace and the sound of ds upstairs. Grin

megletthesecond · 18/06/2019 21:28

I'm going to be mightily pissed off if those storms come up the channel and hit Hampshire in the small hours. I couldn't sleep last night and could do with a quiet night.

BlackeyedGruesome · 18/06/2019 21:28

thanks for the pictures oybbk. makes a good permanent record. love it.

BlackeyedGruesome · 18/06/2019 21:30

a couple of lightning strikes this side of the channel near brighton and exeter I think.

the main bulk is making progress across the channel.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 18/06/2019 21:33

Placemarking waves to OYBBK

That should say Kent too.

they started off seeming to go straight north but they seem to be following a curve and are curving away from us.

it is bonkers over the channel

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/06/2019 22:12

Yes Blackeyed they are being steered in a more easterly direction once they hit the channel. It may be that the majority of this misses us.

Pretty amazing looking sky lookin NG out over the Marsh towards Hastings from here. No sound or much rain, just an amazing light show.

TheoriginalLEM · 18/06/2019 22:42

Just had a flash and a bit of a rumble Grin

BurntSausage · 18/06/2019 22:49

Ooh I love a storm but DD has a sponsored walk tomorrow AM 🙄

My favourite site is www.lightningmaps.org Looks like France has/is getting it bad!

And now the rain

Pascha · 18/06/2019 23:21

Appears to be passing west of unfortunately. Lots of flashes but staying well in the distance, no rain or thunder.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2019 06:25

They did slide along northern France and the channel in the main. They've had a very lively night.

The risk has somewhat diminished for us, though there is still the risk of some thundery rain.

We had an exciting 10 minutes around midnight with lots of noise and flashing and then it was quiet for the rest of the night. Was very pretty to watch for ages but didn't really materialise into much for us.

magimedi · 19/06/2019 07:07

One of the best diplays of lightening I've ever seen, last night about 10.30pm. (Just inland from Eastbourne). And some big thinderclaps as well. Some of the lightening appeared to be a blue/greeen colour.

Storm started again about 6am here, but just rumbling round & distant thunder atm.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2019 07:32

I am very envious! Went to sleep last night mulling over whether we could afford to move to the south coast so I could storm watch.

Am sure property in my neck of the woods is cheaper than yours, OYBBK!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/06/2019 07:35

I'll take a look!
