Although not officially Spring yet, there are some early weather thoughts on the season
here and here.

Yep, from the 25th so a week on Saturday

MintToBee · 20/05/2019 06:07

I'm hoping the sun comes out for the last week in May going into June in Scotland for our wedding What are the chances?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/05/2019 07:43

It looks at the moment that half term week could be quite unsettled with perhaps some very heavy showers, especially in the south where the warmest of temperatures will also be. It's still early, but I think there is a risk of thunderstorms at times.

I wouldn't at the moment like to highlight any specific days, with this set up it would be impossible to be accurate so far ahead.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 20/05/2019 09:51

I’m taking the good from that post OYBBK, warm Grin (although I’m very south Warks not the the south) wet will be welcome too as I’m hoping to have turf down that week or the week after at the latest.

HelloJackieYouLookNice · 20/05/2019 10:51

Is Snowdonia north or south in this scenario OYBBK? The forecast at the moment is changing several times a day which fits in with what you are saying.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/05/2019 17:11

It's not looking so warm in the west in general temperatures in the low to mid teens.

It's only Monday though, let's see what happens a bit closer to the time :)

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 24/05/2019 10:17

Well it’s not looking too bad on my forecast for next week. A few showers & a bit cooler but opportunities to get outside still. Which is good as all plans have been cancelled due to a poxy 4yo. Does this sound about right Gloria & OYBBK?

HelloJackieYouLookNice · 28/05/2019 08:52

Good morning

It’s been a bit of a mixed bag so far...Sunday was lovely once the torrential rain had cleared and today is cold but dry. The rest of the week is looking like a washout, Friday looks ok depending on where I look (our Welsh BBC weatherman Derek says dry but muggy and he’s never wrong Grin).

Are we better off gritting our teeth through Weds/Thurs and attempting Snowdon on Friday or cutting our losses and heading home OYBBK/Gloria?

Thanks Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/05/2019 10:46

Hellojacky, at the moment I think Snowdons main issue on Friday will be drizzle, or perhaps steady rain and poor visibility. If it were me I'd hang on, but I don't know the route you are planning or your tolerance for hiking in cloud. Take a good map and a compass.

I'd use www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/specialist-forecasts/mountain/snowdonia#?date=2019-05-28

HelloJackieYouLookNice · 28/05/2019 11:20

Thanks. I am not intending to attempt it in poor weather, particularly as we have 2 dds with us. Mountainforecast.com is my usual source, they are predicting sunshine on Friday which is different from the met office so we shall see. There is a smaller mountain in the range visible from the camper so that’ll give me a fair idea! (It wasn’t even visible at all on Sunday morning)

Perihelion · 28/05/2019 12:09

Bollocks.....having not camped for several years, I've been persuaded to go to a festival this Saturday near Loch Fyne.

The only good thing about the forecast is that the rain will be too heavy for the midges Sad
Was 7C walking the dog this morning.....

IrenetheQuaint · 06/06/2019 17:22

I am disappointed by the weather. It is June and I am still wearing tights Hmm Any hope of improvement?

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 07/06/2019 15:53

@GloriaSmud or @OhYouBadBadKitten, is it likely to dry up by the end of the month? I'm touring in an open air show from end of June till beginning August. Confused

GloriaSmud · 07/06/2019 19:57

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal ~ it's hard to say as the GFS only goes as far as the 23rd June at the moment.
If it helps, Netweather have their summer forecast here and are going for 'mixed' rather than a repeat of summer 2018.

I don't tend to do long term forecasts, but from what I can put together, I'm leaning more towards a mixed bag too, with some real warmth, but less prolonged heat and more in the way of thunderstorms.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/06/2019 22:06

The next couple of weeks are looking very atlantic driven. Lots of rain showing.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 08/06/2019 22:17

Thanks.

I don't want to perform in the rain. Sad

Just watching the last of the light disappear from the sky.

Can't believe it is the solstice already.

BlackeyedGruesome · 21/06/2019 23:53

The last lighter patch in the northern sky is fading to black as we approach midnight. More or less indistinguishable from the rest of the dark sky now.
