Although not officially Spring yet, there are some early weather thoughts on the season
here and here.

It's driving me a bit bonkers too! Please go away wind.
In like a Lion out like a Lamb? Hopefully!

Whyknot · 21/04/2019 09:21

Are there any indications yet for what kind of weather we might this summer? I'm loving this weather and now hankering after a lovely summer again.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 25/04/2019 09:49

I’ve loved it too Whyknot but I’m hoping the rain we’ve just had has softened my lawn up a bit. I’ve lots of dandelions & thistles in it that I could do with getting out as the baby is now a toddler & adores grubbing about outside Smile. I’m also hoping for another nice hot summer. Last year was lovely for the most part.

BalthazarImpresario · 28/04/2019 13:48

I see the sun today are boasting a Spanish plum that will see us 'roasting' from May. Obviously this is daily express style sensationalism so do our weather gurus have any rational Info?

GloriaSmud · 29/04/2019 06:44

The next 2 weeks are looking fairly settled, maybe occasional showers at the end of this week and it could be chilly at times. After that though (so from 12th May onwards), the GFS is saying it could warm up with some decent summer-type temperatures. But.....it's over 2 weeks away and a lot can change between then and now!

A lot can change... such as it may start snowing.

It is looking like a chilly Bank Holiday weekend for most of the country, nannynick, (as Ballater found out yesterday!) Slight increase in temperatures after today but still not especially warm with risk of overnight frosts.
As for this week, Wednesday looks awful ~ wet all day for a lot of places.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 04/05/2019 09:43

Brrr, you can see/feel the cold in that pic nannynick!

It’s rained every pm school run since Tuesday here Angry.

I don’t expect hot hot this time of year but temps that mean I don’t need the heating on would be nice, the damp cold we’ve been having make my joints ache (I have hyper mobility). Yep, we’re forecast heavy rain all day on Wednesday.

floraloctopus · 06/05/2019 07:27

It's gorgeous and sunny here for the third day in a row so really odd bank holiday weather. Has anybody got snow ?! It's may ! Shock

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 08/05/2019 22:37

Well today was decidedly soggy! It looks like Monday & Tuesday might be nice though according to my forecast.

GloriaSmud · 09/05/2019 21:18

Yes, next week is looking better. Drier but not especially warm though ~ 16-18C and still rather chilly at night.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 10/05/2019 09:38

I don’t mind cool at night, dh is a bloody furnace Grin

GloriaSmud · 10/05/2019 11:52

Bernards Grin

Some thoughts from TWO on Summer 2019. As great as last summer was for some people, a bit cooler and a bit more rain this summer would be nice so that the allotment is kept nicely watered, so that I don't have to make trips every other evening to do it!

Perihelion · 10/05/2019 21:20

Careful what you wish for Gloria
Have been back in my full on winter coat this last week. Today actually was quite nice and almost warmish for a wee while ( still easterly wind ). But for the last three hours have had proper heavy rain.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/05/2019 09:20

I'm a bit late with this but the Met Office contingency planners forecast says it is more likely to be warmer than average than colder than average through July.
www.metoffice.gov.uk/binaries/content/assets/metofficegovuk/pdf/business/public-sector/civil-contingency/forecast-temp-mjj-v2.pdf

They also suggest that average rainfall is most likely.

I find that quite interesting - because the blocking high scenario they mention in the temperature forecast would I have thought led to drier than average weather. I wonder if this means that we could get some rather nice thunderstorms. (conjecture)

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/05/2019 14:54

I love a good thunderstorm! We only had 2 all of last year (that I remember), we’ve already had 3 good ones this year.

Perihelion · 13/05/2019 17:47

20C in Edinburgh Hmm

HelloJackieYouLookNice · 14/05/2019 20:09

Is it too early to ask about May half term in North Wales yet? The BBC are optimistic, Accuweather less so...we are camping and hoping to climb Snowdon amongst other outdoors activities so some sunshine would be nice 🤞

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/05/2019 22:04

I'm a bit concerned about half term, potential for quite a lot of water showing at the moment. Its still a while to go in forecasting terms.

HelloJackieYouLookNice · 14/05/2019 22:07

Nooooo! That’s not what I wanted to hear Grin

Thanks anyway

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/05/2019 22:10

I know :( It's stupid poo stuff. Let's hope it changes!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 15/05/2019 09:53

Hopefully the half term outlook will change. The thought of being in the house with all 5 isn’t fun!

HelloJackieYouLookNice · 15/05/2019 12:10

It’s looking much more optimistic on the apps today so fingers crossed!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/05/2019 13:17

Perhaps, GFS shows it as a tale of two halves now, with the first half of the week being better than the second.
I guess we out to clarify half term starting with the (english)bank holiday Monday?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 15/05/2019 13:44

Yep, well ours starts next Fri due to an inset day. As long as we can get out for a bit each day I’m ok with some rain. Would just prefer it if it’s not an all day everyday type jobby.
